Yes, the word after OneDrive means documents
and there is no file Bioware\Dragon Age Inquisition in OneDrive\documents
just in OneDrive
OK, then it is likely that the game is missing the permission to write to the folder:
Press the Windows key and "X" at the same time > Click on "Command prompt (Administrator)", "PowerShell (Administrator)" or Terminal (Administrator).
(OS specific differences.)
-
In the CMD, PowerShell or Terminal window, at the prompt type or copy and past: takeown /f "C:\Users\Admin\OneDrive\Documents" (With the quotes.)
-
hit ENTER
You should get a success message. - Restart the PC > Test

It does not work. It still creates the file in OneDrive and not in Documents

Sorry, I misread your last post. So the "Bioware\Dragon Age" folders are directly under the "OneDrive" folder?
So the path is "C:\Users\Admin\OneDrive\Bioware\Dragon Age Inquisition"? - 2 years agoYes

I am sorry for the late reply, this thread evaded my notifications somehow.
Is the problem solved?
- 2 years agoNo problem
And the problem still exists - holger14052 years agoHero+
The problem is that your system settings point to your "Document" folder as the standard user account folder to put the game data in, as it should be.
Bbut the game is not recognising that.
I would assume that this is due to the different language of your operating system.Under "Fixed" look at the "Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support" solution and try it. (Don't forget to reboot.)

It still doesn't work

Try to repair the game.
(Origin: Game Library > Right-click the game cover > Repair)
(EA app: My Collection > Click on the three dots on the game cover > Repair)
(Steam: Game Library > Right-click the game > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)If that don't works, disable the link between OneDrive and your "Documents" folder, (In OneDrive > "Backup - Manage Backups", uncheck "Documents")
Test.

Follow the steps in post 4 and post the result with your next reply.
Please also create a DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply. You can do that with the "Choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window. - 2 years ago
Hi, Thank you for attempting to help. Below is the cmd and attached is the dxdiag.

OK, that looks fine.
How many saves do you have? The game has a hard limit of 250 saves. If you have more move the older ones out of the "Save" folder and test.
If you don't have that many saves, try to run DAi as Administrator:
1. Go into your Dragon age Game folder. (Standardly "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Dragon Age Inquisition"
2. Right click the "DragonAgeInquisition.exe" > Properties > Compatibility > Check the box before "Run this program as Administrator" > Click OK!
3. Run EA app > Start the game > Confirm the permissions pop up with OK > Test.

It's a fresh install on a new PC with Windows 11 and I have 0 saves.
I have tried running the game exe EA Origin as administrator and am still having the issue.

Tested after
Terminal (admin), pasted takeown /f "C:\Users\rosal\Documents" got success message, restarted PC test game and that's a nope to saving ☹️
- holger14052 years agoHero+
🤔 Ok, do you have a "C:\Users\rosal\Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age Inquisition" and subsequently a C:\Users\rosal\Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save" folder?
If so:
In the CMD, PowerShell or Terminal window, at the prompt copy and past: takeown /f "C:\Users\rosal\Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save"
-
hit ENTER
!! You should get a success message. - Restart the PC > Test
If not let me know.

I do have those folders. I ran the CMD and pasted the line below, restarted the PC and ran everything as administrator and unfortunately it still doesn't want to save ☹️
I will also note that I am not running any anti virus software other than windows defender. I have tried without OneDrive installed as well ☹️

Test without running EA app and the game as Administrator.
If that also don't wotks, preform a clean boot and test the Game in clean boot mode.
In clean boot:
- Make sure the "EABackgroundService" remains enabled under point 3 in the guide.
- Make sure your virus scanner and other security software and also Afterburner and similar software is disabled.(You can go offline while testing if this bothers you, but the risk is very small.)

Hi,
Thanks again for the assistance, I tried running the game in a clean boot with windows defender(my only AV software) turned off and with both administrator and non admistrator. Unfortunately it did not solve the issue. Is it possible the game is not compatible with windows 11?

No, the game works just fine on Windows 11.
Create a new Windows user account (Administrator) don't use local special characters, use only Characters from the ASCII table
- Reboot > Log in to the new user account.
- Test.

Created a new admin user. The game did not launch on the new users account at all. It just kept asking to repair. I repaired 10 times but it did not boot.
- holger14052 years agoHero+
Please create a DxDiag in text file format, one from the new and one from the main account. Post it with your next reply.
You can do that with the "Choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.

Are all Frostbite Engine games unable to save?
Because I discovered that I cannot save any game from the Frostbite engine - EA_Shepard2 years ago
Community Manager
@m95rzje45rz1 It would be game specific not engine specific. If the game is not being played through the EA app, Steam or Epic, there could be an underlying issue happening.
I think the problem is with the engine because...
I have a problem with all Frostbite Engine games. I cannot save or I cannot enter the game
mass effect Andromeda I can't save
Dragon Age Inquisition I can't save
dead space remake I can't save
FIFA 23 I can't enter the game
