@EA_Kristi and @EA_Nils,
Thank you both for the attention to this topic. Just wanted to ask if there has been any details at all passed back from the Origin team to your customer service team on what may be causing this regression problem.
I'm also considering getting a refund for the digital key I purchased for the game, and purchasing a physical disc in-store this evening (it's a little after 5 PM here as I write this). At this point, do you believe that there will be a solution on Origin's side to this problem in any reasonable time frame, or would I / we be better served by getting a physical copy as I described above?
Any indication is more useful than none. Thanks again.

I tried a last-ditch attempt to get this to work, but unfortunately it didn't:
I installed Origin for the first time on two other computers and attempted to download the game on those machines instead, planning on transferring the data files via my Windows Homegroup to my main desktop. The same exact problem happened on the other two machines, both around the 3.60GB mark. I don't believe that there's any possible issue with user computers at the moment that's causing this, since all three machines have different setups. However, I also find it difficult to believe how this issue can follow a user's account across multiple machines, so I'm at a loss as to guessing what it could be.
I've given up on trying to find work-arounds, there's clearly something terribly wrong on the Origin side of things. If the admins have any updates from the Origin development team, those would be helpful right about now, if only to allay concerns that we won't be able to download, let alone play, this game for days to come.
