Problem with DAO shutting down

Hi. Several games of DA in and all of them, at some point, shut off. Just suddenly back to my desktop. One character in Denerim on my way to nick Ser Nancine's sword and the other straight after the nightmare during first night in camp.

For myself I have; un and reinstalled the game; repaired files; taken out all the mods and put them back one at a time to see if one of them was breaking the game. No luck.

I have also done the usual suspects with EA help. Run as administrator; turned origin in-game off; cleared cache files. Still no joy.

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

    Hi @sunwisecircles

    Looking at the DxDiag you attached, it seems like Origin is having some issues with .dll files. This might be related to the crashes you've been seeing. When you have a chance can you try downloading the Visual C++ Redistributables from the Microsoft Support website to see if that helps? If there's a problem with those .dll files that may help fix it.

    Let me know if you're still running into the same issues afterward. Thanks!

    /Kent

    @EA_Kent thanks for looking at my problem. unfortunately no, it didn't work. Is crazy - one moment working fine, the next all kinds of twitches. People in Denerim running around in their underwear, outfits going black, flickering back and forth between blacked out scenery and proper scenery. IDK.

    @sunwisecircles; Any mods installed?  Denerim is known to be the most problematic location for dealing with (some types of) mods because of the sheer complexity of that environment.

    @ThandalNLyman have a ton of mods installed. When i reinstalled the game i put them back one by one and there seemed to be no problem. They all seem to quit at different points in the game. Did you want a list? =)

    @sunwisecircles;  A few questions:

    1.  Is one of your mods "Improved Atmosphere"?  If so, I'd look to that one as the main culprit.  It's a great mod, but it doesn't play well with others, and especially doesn't play well in Denerim.  Unfortunately, just uninstalling it doesn't necessarily solve things because certain changes it makes get "baked-in" to your saves.  (Another reason to either use it exclusively, or not use it at all.  I chose the latter.)

    2.  Does the crashing stop if you have NO mods?  If so, maybe it's a conflict between one-or-more and your system's config (hardware or software.)

    3.  Have you disabled the "Origin Overlay" in-game?  There's an item in your DXdiag report that it crashed, and it serves no real purpose for DAO anyway.

    [EDIT:  Fixed types.]

    @ThandalNLyman wow. playing dao without improved atmosphere. that's gonna be wild. origin overlay, always turning that damned thing off. OK, will give this a try. And thanks ThandalNLyman, you have helped me before in here and I appreciate it.

    @sunwisecircles OK. The game crashed once while I was in the camp. I simply rebooted and instead of going into the tent, I left the area and all was good. I haven't always had that option. But so far, and many saves later, so good.
