[PS3] Autosave freeze

Couldn't find a post regarding this specific problem, just mentioned here and there without answers.

Don't take the bold text as me shouting at you, more like what in my elaborate and colourful text is actually of importance.

Since I've got the game, the most important thing I realised is that autosave is killing the preformance of this game, to such a degree to almost unplayable during it and is most likely to freeze if you do play at the same time. When it freezes it's dead. Waited for two hours in spite and there was nothing to do but hard reset the console.

The patch from a couple of days ago (9th of Dec 2014 I think) did not fix this issue, sadly.

I've now played around 120 hours (incl. about 12 h standby and excl. two other characters with 60 + 32 h) now and during this time I've timed every single time I wait for autosave to complete while pausing to avoid freezing. Total of 2:13:22 is on my timer as I am writing this, but only during these 120 hours. I have not counted the time it takes for the console to reboot and restore...

This is not a lot, I am aware of that, but it really break the flow of the game when something happens and I pause just to avoid crashes. Worst part is when I cannot pause and it does anyway, like when in conversations and cut scenes.

Now, this is most interesting: After most crashes, the "preference" file is the only thing not saved properly. I can restart (though Continue is not present on the main screen and I have to load latest autosave or "milestone") and the game continues seconds from where it froze. My preferences, however, are not saved. The screen is to small, too slow of a camera and those darn X & Y- axis need to be inverted.

There has been one or two times where the autosave is not done properly and I'll have to go back about 10 minutes.

After the patch there are a lot of texture issues. They load VERY slow and it is unbearable when in Skyhold or other large locations with many NPCs (the nightmare of Winter Palace... Oh, the times I stopped just to let it load in fear of freezing). This, combined with the autosave issue is just horrible... Horrible...

So far, around 215 h divided by $80 includning an amazing soundtrack (which I have yet to download because I've not read how yet) is very good value. It's up there with my favourites like Demon's/Dark Souls and Dragon's Dogma and I do not regret buying it as a game... But seeing this I am sorry to say that Bioware is never again on my pre-order list (only the Tales and Final Fantasy series left... Which will probably change soon as well...). Anyway, I love this game. Not the best out there, but as my range of games overall is very small, it has made me impressed on many levels. Even made me cry when I got to hug Varric. Amazing.

I suppose this is a question in itself, but I will spell it out:

Is it possible to get a reason why the game is behaving this way? I suppose limitation of the hardware is a reason, but if that is the case, give it to me straight. It does ?cripple? my experience to play with constant pauses and it saddens me, because I want to play this over and over and over just to experience it all, but I can't be bothered. Might seem like I don't have a life, having played so much, but as I'm going through a hard time it has been a good escape for me. Going back to work, I will not have the luxery of pausing every few minutes, if even for a few seconds to a minute, which will make this game collect dust on the shelf. Will I ever be able to play this properly, or will I have to pick it up in a few years when I can get better hardware?

Rant over... "I am the one, who will live on..."
