[PS4] Unable to load into Dragon Age Inquisition

Hello everyone,

I have on my PS4 and PS5 the DAI data and game saves from 2016. Yesterday I saw on sale in the Store the game and bought it, since when I played that year it was thanks to the PS subscription.

When I enter the game, it does not recognize my data and creates new ones. I have tried it on PS4 and PS5 and the same thing happens, as if they were different games.

The weirdest thing, for me, is that when downloading the game, a selection screen appears, like when it asks you which version to install of other games (if ps4 or ps5), but the image, name and everything are the same, only one has a lock. If you go to “view product”, it directs you to the one I bought. That is, if they really are a different base game, the one I played, I understand that it no longer exists.

Will I never be able to sync my data again? For those of us who played the game back in the day, it would make no sense and I would see it as very unfair, since EA only sells the version I bought.

I hope you can help me.

Thank you.

@darkpere Gotcha, so if it was one of the monthly games and you have PS Plus you should be able to access it so it would be considered two different versions on the console. Its an entitlement issue not a game issue. If the save file has data from a different version of the game, it wont work unless you have that version. That, I am afraid, is on the console side, not the game side.

I am a PC player, so pardon if what I ask isn't possible on consoles....but can you just copy the save files to either a backup drive and then transfer them to the proper location for the new game, or do a direct copy from one folder to the other on the drive??  I know on PCs it could be done easily.....

@EA_Shepard So I take it from your words that, by playing a version that does not exist at the time, I will never be able to load my saved games? I don't understand it from the point of view of the players...

Yes, on PC it would have been solved days ago. You change the version of the file by hand and that's it. On consoles this kind of things are impossible.

The basic problem is that the savegames are already where they should be, both in the console storage and in the cloud.

So technically, yes, you can do that on a console as well as a PC. The main issue here is two-fold

Does the save file have data on it from a different "version" of the game?
Is the downloaded version the same version as the locked version?

You can download and save files on the console to a thumb drive and get them off the console. However, being that there are two versions on the console, the save file has data on it that the downloaded version doesn't have. This could be anything from DLC, gear, special items, GOTY data, etc.

That isn't info we can see. A locked version on the console only applies to a few reasons - Disc - game version - Monthly game - EA Play sub (this gives the best version)

If you want to access the save that you cannot,  you have to own or download that same locked version. That becomes an entitlement issue with the console and the PSN ID not the game or the save itself.
