@CrymznWych wrote:That may of been the actual issue. I had also tried all the prior suggestions, but it wasn't until I checked my inventory prior to the boss fight (which was full), then cleared it out some before proceeding that the game finally got past the cutscene. The other steps might not even be needed if it is just a full inventory problem. Just a guess though.
But as you saw from my post, I cleared space in my inventory, down to 54/60 and still it does not work. So while that may be a great solution for some, it still has no effect for me. This is a serious bummer/letdown.
I had cleared mine all the way down to 47/60. Not sure if that made the difference or not, all I know is the game worked again after that. Whatever is causing this bug, I hope someone gets it figured out for those that current suggestions aren't working for.

Seriously, would be nice to get an official response on some of these issues. I'll try clearing it down further and see if it does anything.

Wow. Big thanks to all of the users out there who made suggestions that led to something that finally worked for me. I really appreciate the time and energy you put into helping others in this community. Would've been nice to see the same from the devs, but alas.
Anyways, here is what, after a week of trying, finally seemed to work for me. I'm using a PC, only KB+M on a fairly outdated system, but nothing too ancient.
Reload auto save that isn't actually in the battle with A. Approach the door that opens to his chamber. Destroy inventory items so I was down to 52/60 (no idea if there is a cut off or something, but 54/60 didn't work, strange, I know). Switch settings to windowed mode, low graphics setting, and worst resolution possible. Exit DA:I and Origin completely. Start them back up (should still be in windowed mode, low settings, and low res), load the new save you did after destroying the items, enter battle. At the cutscene, I let them play through completely and did not click any of the dialogue choices with the mouse, only used the keyboard. For whatever reason, this is what did it for me. Thank Andraste!

It's inexusable for a game like this to have such a huge game breaking bug in the main quest line. It's absolutely ridiculous.
That being said, after fighting that **bleep** Alexius half a dozen times, I finally got it to work. I loaded a save from before the fight, cleared my inventory to 50/60, turned down graphics to low, saved the game, closed the game, restarted, loaded that last save and only used the keyboard for interactions. I don't know why it worked but it did. So nice to see everyone with super shiny hair again (not).
