Re: Can't trigger Solas cut scenes?

Here are the cutscenes that you should be able to get whether or not you're in a relationship with him:

Cutscene at Haven (first one)
Cutscene at Skyhold, reliant on high approval (choose the star option when speaking to him/asking to know more about him)
Companion quest cutscene, requires first Skyhold cutscene and high approval
Another cutscene at Skyhold, requires companion quest completed and high approval
One cutscene after What Pride Had Wrought

I think that's it. If you're in a romance with him you can potentially get two more cutscenes.

The easiest ways to get his approval up are to ask him questions and take him along when you help others/to activate elven artifacts.

Yeah, I'm guessing it's an approval problem. The issue is I've asked him all the questions I can several times and it does nothing -- I just get the same repeated dialogue. The elven artifacts haven't resolved the problem. Something I did must have made him really, really hate me.
And I'm doing What Pride Had Wrought now, so I may just have to call his friendship lost for this playthrough, which makes me sad.

Depending on what you do during that quest, you might actually be able to get his approval up to the point where he likes you! But it would be too late for a romance, sorry. ☹️ You might still be able to get his personal quest, though...?
Out of curiosity, when you speak to him, are there extra options for complaining to him about abandoning the elves/being obsessed with the Fade? That's probably the easiest way to tell that he doesn't like you, other than the way he addresses you when you speak to him.
