It's the same silence no matter what area, which companions or where in the storyline. I spent time walking around with different companions in different areas and unless they cramped all the banter in after the last two main quests I spend all that time to learn more about them and heard barely anything. I don't have issues with other sounds, bard songs, ambient noise and music funktion all as far as I can tell.
