Re Dragon Age Inquisition, controller fault

I have the game and it is up to date with all updates.  

There is one problem I have and that is that the even though the controller works, I am unable to press down on the analogue stick and nothing happens.  I can press start to get into the menu, press A to get into the game, even pause the game again, but pressing down doesn't work in the menu and therefore am unable to access the options menu to alter the functions.

Seems to possibly have happened since one of the last update

Can anyone help at all
