Re: DRAGON AGE INQUISITION KEEPS CRASHING> :-( CAN I HAVE SOME HELP PLEASE??

@MissTuliptus I think Thandal thought you were on a laptop as the integrated Intel cards are most often an issue on those 😉 (Much easier to deal with on desktops, since you can just plug your monitor into your dedicated graphics card and ignore the integrated one. The integrated ones are just a feature of certain Intel CPUs).

The reason I said your drivers look out of date is because your dxdiag says this:
Driver Date/Size: 12/4/2015

The most recent software available on the AMD site for your card is from the 17th December 2015, this includes if you go to the 'Optional Downloads' tab and just download the driver without the Radeon software. So whether your drivers are from April last year (which is how I read it, I may be wrong and the date's American, I was tired when I wrote my previous post and forgot that's a thing) or from 4th of December last year, it's out of date (though by how much varies greatly depending on whether the dates are American or not). Edit: and later, after getting some sleep, I realised that you can probably ignore this, maybe the software released on the 17th of December has drivers dated within it as the 4th of December. Or something.

The error does seem to be video card related, that error message seems to have been common at times with this game.

One easy thing to check, is your computer dusty? Overheating can cause this issue, and dust can contribute to overheating.

If you don't have dust, you may want to get a program such as HWMonitor (it's free and easy to use. Ignore anything to do with a 'pro' version, you don't need it), which monitors temperature (among other things, but temperature is what we're concerned with) of various components of your computer. I'm mostly interested in whether your video card is getting hot (please include Celsius if you let us know your temperatures, Fahrenheit is alien to me 😛 )..

Some people have found that turning off Origin in game has helped, as has running the game in windowed mode (windowed fullscreen, I'd imagine).

There's a whole thread about this error message (and various methods people used to fix it, including but not limited the accepted solution) here.

And we'll see how you go with your uninstall/reinstall of the game, of course. 🙂

Hopefully that all made sense... Once again, posting while tired. I really should stop doing that 😛

Edit: Hoping you've figured your issues out. I'll be leaving for a week(ish) after today, so I won't be around to help if you have further problems. I'm sure others will be around to help out, though. 🙂

Hi again. I have just noticed your edit saying that you're away for a week (and a bit more possibly).

I'm not really sure when you posted your last reply, but I do have something new and more positive to report on the Dragon Age front.

I haven't been able to get around to posting since my last reply, with other stuff getting in the way.

So I've just found a short time to reply just now, (on a Monday afternoon) and I thought I would give my update on what is happening with my copy of DAI, then you can come back to read it the next time you have some spare time. I'm not in a rush, so please feel free to take your time. 🙂

So anyway.... I have been back to the AMD Site again, to update everything further like you said.

    (from here http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows%207%20-%2064)

I grabbed myself a copy of all the latest drivers from there, and even the chipset drivers from "Optional Downloads" tab, which is something I didn't think to do originally.

So I feel that everything from there is now well and truly up to date. Though I'll keep checking back there every so often as I know that stuff is always updated from time to time.

Anyway, having updated with all those drivers e.t.c. I then went to load my game again, thinking the updates had solved my problem.

But low and behold.... unfortunately it didn't, and for a while, I still had the same crash errors happening. ☹️

I wasn't going to give up on this, and it did take a few days to eventually work something out. (since I eventually realized this kind of matter wasn't going to be fixed in a single heartbeat)

So anyway.... chugging along each day to try and come up with ideas to help to fix this game, I started reading through people's comments in this link you provided :

    http://answers.ea.com/t5/Dragon-Age-Inquisition/DirectX-function-GetDeviceRemovedReason-failed-with-dxgi-error/td-p/4008007

Then eventually, I ended up at this page : http://answers.ea.com/t5/Dragon-Age-Inquisition/DirectX-function-GetDeviceRemovedReason-failed-with-dxgi-error/m-p/4690172#M57320

I'm Feeling a bit lazy to check it out right now, but I don't know if that page I came across, is one of the reply pages continuing on from the one you linked me to in the start place.

It was a few days ago now, so I can't remember without checking.

But anyway, a reply on that page has eventually helped me to fix my copy DAI, to a decent extent that I'm more happy with now than when I first started playing.

Someone on there, ("Nome22" his/her forum name) talks about opening the Registry Editor via "regedit from the "Start menu," following the process from there, and typing in "TdrDelay" in the new box, and using "8" as the value.

Well, at first I was unsure whether to do this or not, as it felt like I was somehow going into the deep inner system of my PC, and I felt as though I was going to accidentally break something technical inside my PC somewhere that I didn't really have any clue about. But eventually, I had to give in to temptation and try it out.

Since it's something that is going to fix a problem with a certain game, then I thought, well hey, what do I have to lose? (my insanity perhaps? 😛)

Anyway, I tried out this TdrDelay thing, and eventually..... HEY PRESTOOOO!! Game is now fixed! HOORAYYY! 🙂🙂

Well I say fixed, but actually, it's now a lot more stable than when I first started.

My copy of this game is actually still prone to crashes as I keep playing, but I'm more happy to report that I can play for a lot longer now before it happens than when it did in the first place.

In the first place, I would run around ingame for just a few seconds, then WHAM..... CRASH.

But now more stable, the game runs nice and fine for somewhere not far over 2 hours, then a crash.

Although it's not perfect, I actually feel more happier with this outcome too. 🙂

I can just load the game back up again, (from my current "save") and same thing.... it goes very nice and smoothly for over 2 hours.

Oh, and I also downloaded the PC Monitoring software that you linked me to, here : http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

So I can use it to check the temperature and other things to do with my PC.

And I do find it somewhat useful.

So there we go. As I said, DAI isn't perfect, but I'm still happy enough to keep playing now that it's more stable.

Thanks a lot for all the help you have given me, and for the various links to other very helpful PC and DAI stuff too.

    Much appreciated.🙂

Edit : Darn, just realized how much I've wrote, sitting here.😳

I hope I don't put you off too much. Please feel free to take as much time as you like. I don't expect as much as I have written.😳

@MissTuliptus Well, I'm glad you got it somewhat sorted. I've been home a couple of days now, so no worries.
I was looking at that TdrDelay thing recently for someone... can't remember if it was this thread or a different one (my memory does resemble that of a goldfish at times 😛 ). Think I was waiting to see how other things went before suggesting anything involving regedit (though for future reference, you can back up your registry, which means if you mess things up, you should be able to restore it 😉 ).

One thing, if you download and install the drivers/software from the main download tab, you don't need the driver from 'optional downloads', I believe that just gives you the driver without the crimson software. Also, just noticed there's a hotfix, released yesterday (or... today... time differences), might make a difference to anyone having issues with the current AMD drivers.

@THEDOBINATOR6000 The OP was having this issue with older drivers (from either December or last April, depending on whether the dates are US or... normal), so I don't think her issue was caused by the newest driver (which I'm guessing she now has installed). If updating/rolling back drivers doesn't help, perhaps you could try the solutions in the linked threads in @MissTuliptus's reply, you might find something that works for you. 🙂

OK, that's about all my brain can handle at the moment. @MissTuliptus, let us know if you need any more help. 🙂
