Re: Dragon Age Inquisition Save Corrupt, All Saves Corrupted PC

Same thing happened to me last night. Luckily I found a fix! Go to the save directory (Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age Inquisition/save) and delete the .DAS file with the most recent timestamp (that's the only one that is corrupt and is keeping the game from seeing the rest of them). Hopefully you are like me and keep at least 2 or 3 different save files. Launch the game and the Continue option will be available again (you only sacrificed the most recent file).

Many, many thanks, my friend! It worked and you've probably saved the whole of Dragon Age for me just there, and luckily responded pretty quickly as well so now I can live in peace again! Many thanks again, cheers! 😕mileyvery-happy:

I tried to go this route and had no luck. When I remove the most recent .das file all that happens when I run the game is that it shows no saves (even though there were about 10 saves, not including auto-save/quick-saves).

I also tried to start a new game and save a new file to see if it would create some sort of fix for all the save files. This route didn't work and just shows the new save if I deleted the previous corrupt file OR if I copy and paste the old file back into the new saves it shows that I have the new file AND the corrupt file.

I'm about 40 hours in and this really really sucks. ☹️

Riefenbot, I had multiple saves too and they all got corrupted at the same time. Or that's what it looked like. I fixed it by starting a new game, go through the character creation and save the game.

Then when loading the game, you will need to switch character. You should now be able to see your save games and be able to load the last save before the corrupted one.

    hi there,

I remember one thing I did before finding the workaround was to create a new character and save the game. So at this point apparently I would have only 1 save game available. Then I quit the game and followed the route I described: I deleted the most recent .DAS file which I suspected was corrupt (since I remembered the time where my PC crashed). Then I launched the game and the rest of my 15 save games showed up again. So it seems you might need to create a new character to fix something in the profile and then follow the workaround I posted. Also, like other users are saying I now copy the entire Save folder to some other drive every so often for the ultimate backup.

    Cheers.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to reply that I finally came back to it and was able to get my saves back after following yalls advice. I created a new game, saved that game, closed out and THEN I deleted the old corrupted save file. When I rebooted the game everything was good to go!

Thank you all for the help!

Instead of losing 20+ hours, you helped me to just losing 45 minutes. Thank you so much !HOW is this bug possible in a released game ? EA and UBIsoft have been the biggest dissapointment this year by releasing unfinished products over and over again!

This problem is far from solved. This is just a band aid. EA has done nothing to address this and many other issues. Since when are we as end users supposed to be responsible for all the nonsense we have to go through to play a game?!?!

Thank you very much, you have saved me the game!

  • Any idea how to fix this on Xbox One? The game wouldn't let me save for some reason so I connected to the Internet (am usually in offline mode). I get back into the game and it won't let me continue or load my character.

Holy smokes! Thank you so much. I'm over 150 hours in and literally just started the Trespasser DLC when I had a power outage. You saved me a lot of heartbreak.

Tried the initial repair of only deleting the most recent save and nothing happened. Then read about creating a new character, saving and found it worked.
