Re: Dragon Age Inquisition Xbox 360 "The disc is unreadable"

Deleting the cache on my Xbox seems to be helping at the moment. It hasn't crashed in about 20 minutes.

If you want to try it but can't remember where those settings are, use this instruction page from Microsoft .

Edit:  This really seems to be working for me. I still haven't crashed since deleting my cache. I'm going to mark this as the solution. I hope everyone with this problem gets good luck with this answer!

  • Oh no! If you receive another solution, please let us all know.

  • Well, my own solution doesn't work anymore. After being able to play for a few hours last night without crashing, I can't get the game to play at all tonight. Just "unreadable disc" time after time after time. I can get to the load screen, and then it crashes again.

Same here. Mine wont even get to the loading screen now it just immediately gives me the "disc is unreadable" right when I select play game.

Can we please get a response from an EA employee? This is clearly not an isolated issue, as it seems to be effecting a lot of Xbox 360 users. Is a patch being worked on, is it an issue with our machines?

  • I'm making a new post of this, because the previous ones have been ignored. I'm hoping to get some help or at the very least some acknowledgment of the problem.

Knowing that I'm even being heard in the first place would go a long way toward helping me be patient. I'm frustrated and increasingly of the opinion that I've been shunted off into a corner to be ignored. A lot of people have this problem and there has been not a word, no contact, no assurance that anything is being looked into.

Bioware, please acknowledge this problem and let all of us know that it's being looked into.

The problem I have talked about in two previous posts is that the discs, both Installation and Play, produce the error "The disc is unreadable" .  Sometimes those of us with this problem (there seem to be a lot of us) can get the discs to install a play for a little, but usually the game crashes to the "The disc is unreadable" error almost immediately.

Today I got some new data points that I want to share. It makes me wonder if all of us with this problem are Deluxe Edition users. So if the people who are suffering through this with me would state if they are using deluxe edition files or not, that might be helpful.

    1. I returned my original discs and got new ones. This caused fewer "unreadable disc" errors-- just two in several hours last night.

    2. I still had problems when I played though, with the sounds being the most obvious. Dialogue was choppy and played as if the the words had been scrambled. Only having the subtitles on saved me being able to understand the plot.

    3. I thought because I have new discs, maybe I should do a reinstall of the game files. I thought maybe that would clear up the sound problems and fix the remaining "unreadable disc" errors. Today I did the reinstall.

    4. I played with no disc errors and the sound and dialogue were never corrupted.

    5. I forgot to reinstall the Deluxe Edition after I installed the fresh game files. I played all the way to waking up in Haven without a glitch in sound or an "unreadable disc" error.

    6. When I realized my deluxe edition items weren't in the chest, I remembered to go back and install the deluxe edition download piece, I've re-downloaded the Deluxe Edition files off Xbox Live 4 times. I do not have a set of corrupted files for that.

    7. After installing the deluxe file, instantly I got an "unreadable disc" error. Immediately, dialogue got chopped up and could not be understood again without the aid of subtitles.

Again I beg you as politely and respectfully as possible to acknowledge receipt of this information and give any possible reassurance that the problem will be looked into. Or be honest and let us know if we just need to get our money back. The dead silence is frustrating and feels very insulting to me. I have no other way to ask for help-- I'm being forced to come here. Yet no one answers.

Ive had the same issue.i bought my copy and took it home it started the game up i got to the loading screen then the disc is unreadable error popped up.this happened to me roughly 5-6 times so i uninstalled it and did it again put the game disc in and it started to do it again.i went back to the store to exchange it and told them what was going on.they gave me my 2nd copy and when i got home i was able to play for 2-3 hours.then the evil error appeared again.i talked to a game advisor but they told me to send it to them.im gonna exchange it one more time on monday if that copy does it again then ill send it away.its very sad that there is this issue when ive been looking foward to playing this for awhile now.i think they should have the digital download avalible on xbox live to solve this horrible issue

    This **bleep** is STILL HAPPENING.

I exchanged my disc yesterday, and got maybe 20 minutes of play out of it. Even did the "clear the cache three times" thing, too. This is complete BS. A new game! A (reasonably) new 360!

  • It is now February 6th 2016 and this is still ask issue. I can play my game just fine and dandy until I try to judge the Avvar dude on my throne in Skyhold. I get through the cutscene just fine but add soon as I complete the quest and step off my throne the unable to read disc * pops up. I've updated, cleaned cache and screamed but nothing helps. So not only did they release a game with terrible, unpolished graphics but it is also glitchy and prone to crashing. I know xbox 360's are considered ancient now but not all of us can afford next generation models. It would've been nice if they put in the effort for the little people too.
