Re: Dragon Age Origins serial number is too short!

To clarify - the box would normally contain two codes as shown below. The code from the leaflet on the left is the DLC code.

If the back of the manual shown on the right hand side does not contain a 20 digit game code, please get in touch with an EA Game advisor.

It would be very helpful if you keep the code you do have printed on there ready and provide it when contacted. You may also be asked for proof of purchase, so ideally be prepared to attach two screenshots to your ticket.

Note: Do not post those screenshots on the Answer HQ forums.

Please contact our Game Advisors again. You will need to send them a screenshot like the one above ( https://help.ea.com/article/how-to-attach-a-file-to-your-ea-help-ticket )which shows the codes you have received. You will also need proof of purchase, so make sure you make a copy of that as well.

They will then be able to assist you.

Sorry.  The problem with the incorrect codes printed on manuals supplied to one specific (UK) vendor is well known by all except (apparently) the people responsible for fixing it.

The Game Advisors really are the only path to getting this resolved.   You could see if GAME would exchange your physical product for one from the corrected shipment they were sent.  Otherwise, (short of buying another copy from another vendor) you can only try again with the GAs.

I have spent most of the morning  on EA chat. I spoke to two different advisors about this problem. Took a lot of time trying to get them to understand problem. They had never heard of it. One said the 16 digit number was for a playstation and had I the right game.

Now giving up and retuning game to shop for a refund. Very frustrating.

I am going to do the exact same thing and I am not going to buy any other game from EA because all of their packaging are missing the codes.

You will all be contacted by a colleague of mine soon. Please check your mailbox for an email from EA. You should be able to provide my colleague with proof of purchase and they will straighten things out.

I have just spent the best part of an hour taking photos of the discs, the receipt, the codes and the manual to prove I have a bought copy of the game.

They are saying my online receipts, paypal receipts and Amazon despatch note are not suitable and they are refusing to help.  Furthermore they say there isn't an address I can write to to complain.

I have the same problem as everyone else, they say they know the code is 4 digits short but tough.  My proof of purchase doesn't count.

Can anyone help or suggest anything?

Hi, I'm having this same problem - I tried calling the helpline, but it told me to come here without letting me talk to an advisor. I would try the live chat, but clicking on the button doesn't do anything, even after waiting. What can I do now?

@rhiannonmyfanwy;  Not sure what country/region you're in, but the EA Game Advisors are the only ones who can resolve this for you.

And the Help Center really is the only way to contact them.

After getting to the Help Center and filling out the required information, (Product/Problem/Platform)
look for the "Chat Now", "Call Me / Call Now", or "Email Now" buttons, not the AHQ "Ask Now" one.  (You've already done that.)

The exact options you see will vary depending on your region and the time-of-day.  😕mileyfrustrated:

If you select "Chat Now", (or "Call Now" if that is an option for you) be sure to have enough time to wait.

I always expect it to take an hour before I'm connected to someone, and am pleasantly surprised when it's less.

Hi Thandal, thanks for responding! I managed to get it sorted in the end - for some reason the "Chat Now" button would never work on this computer - I tried a different browser on a different computer and it worked fine, I was able to get through to someone in about 5 minutes.

Glad I found this thread as I have the 16 digit DLC code but my manual also has a 16 digit serial code.... yet the game wants a 20 digit code to register. Not very happy about it as you can imagine.

Am waiting for a Game Advisor to connect to chat at the moment (25-30minute wait) so hopefully it'll be sorted.

Yep... guy I spoke to was very helpful - though he appreciated being given the help topic to look up.

I have the same problem but i can't return the product easily as i bought it on a site, i waited 60 minutes to speak to someone on the chat and the person seemed to be absent so i'll try it again but i can understand that it can be very frustrating.

I just brought the CD from a charity shop in the UK..  But only to find out that there was no registration code in the box. Talking to a EA rep on the chat - states they are unable to help to provide a new code as they can not generate a code as the codes goes with the game. So basically no new codes can be created. Only EA reps can retrieve the codes from the accounts already used.
