Re: Error Message when attempting to re-install Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening.

Anyone having any luck?

I spent 4 hours on chat with tech support last night, and the problem hasn't been fixed. I'm tired of being told to redownload DA: Origins since it works fine. Awakening will not install.

  • I have a workaround to manually get Awakening installed.

Btw "...\Origin Games\" is where Origin places your installed games. By default, the path is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\" on 64-bit Windows.

First, you will need to copy two folders into your Dragon Age install:

    Copy "...\Origin Games\Dragon Age Origins  Awakening\addins" to "...\Origin Games\Dragon Age\addins",

    and "...\Origin Games\Dragon Age Origins  Awakening\packages\core_ep1" to "...\Origin Games\Dragon Age\packages\core_ep1".

Now open a command prompt and navigate to "...\Origin Games\Dragon Age Origins  Awakening\".

Type in the following command, but substitute your path to Dragon Age in /manifest:

    DAO_UpdateAddinsXml.exe /addins="Bioware\Dragon Age\Settings\addins.xml" /manifest="...\Origin Games\Dragon Age\addins\dao_prc_ep_1\manifest.xml"

For example, a default install on 64-bit Windows command would be:

    DAO_UpdateAddinsXml.exe /addins="Bioware\Dragon Age\Settings\addins.xml" /manifest="C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age\addins\dao_prc_ep_1\manifest.xml"

Run Dragon Age: Origins and Awakening should now be in "Other Campaigns." I hope EA gives us a real fix soon.

This issue seems to stem from the update to1.05, as it's not one I had before. If so, I fear that this issue will have to be resolved by Bioware.

  • The 1.05 patch addressed some registry-related DLC authorization issues and problems encountered for players with DX-10 video cards. So unlikely to be the cause of this...

I have DX-11, and did not have any issues before installing the patch. It messed up Origins, as well, but I managed to get it functioning again on my own. I had to download the DLC I've purchased, via my Bioware account, and install them manually; after the patch, they stopped working properly.

What do you mean by a command prompt?

Also, what is meant by "substitute your path to Dragon Age in/manifest." I've never used the command prompt before.

Take a look at Ensomnea´s example

    --------------------------------------

For example, a default install on 64-bit Windows command would be:

    DAO_UpdateAddinsXml.exe /addins="Bioware\Dragon Age\Settings\addins.xml" /manifest="C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age\addins\dao_prc_ep_1\manifest.xml"

    --------------------------------------

    Copy everything untill /manifest="

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games...   --> might not be the path were you intalled your origin software so you might need to replace that path

For example i had to replace that text with D:\Origin\ (the rest was the same).

    Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that we are looking into this. The team is working on bringing all DLC to the Origin client. Their ultimate goal is that you can download all DLC directly from within the client (on the game detail page). We think that this will make it easier for everyone who uses Origin as you can then use the client as a one stop shop for all your downloads.

Some of us (me included) see some bumps in the road to this goal at the moment. Please bear with us while we are working on smoothing everything out.

    Thank you for your patience,

    Ursula

    That would be great.

Just adding a bump to this thread as I am having the same Awakening issue since the latest Dragon Age: Origins patch and was quite frustrated that I had to uninstall and re-install off disc and play via DVD drive.

I cannot log into Origin at all for fear that it will start patching something on Dragon Age: Origins and/or Awakening before I can hit cancel.

When I logged into Origin again today I got a download for DAO. It downloaded and installed and after that I had all my DLC + Awakening installed and available for play.

    1. Opened Origin

    2. Updated DA: O

    3. Closed Origin

    4. Opened Origin

    5. Updated DA: Awakening

Awakening now properly shows as an expansion pack under DA: O as opposed to a separate game.

    Everything now runs properly.

    Thank you :-)

ALL availably DLC? Origin only shows only Stone Prisoner, REturn to Ostagar, Wardens Keep and The Feastday DLCs for me. And Origin wants, that I rebuy Stone Prisoner and Wardens Keep - all other, already bought DLC is still missing...
