Re: No Dialogue Sound in Dragon Age Inquisition

Alright man, I think I locked it down. You need to go into the control panel for your sound card and manually change the sound to Stereo. The game thinks you're using 5.1 speakers and is playing the voiceover on a nonexistant front center channel, so all you can hear is a faint echo in the right and left surround. That's what worked for me, anyway.

Can someone from EA comment on whether or not 5.1 audio should actually work though? Seems a little 1990's to have to play a game in stereo audio.

  • I completely agree. I shouldn't have to perform my own fix for this...

    AWESOME FIX!!!

Had this problem with DAI, also had it with other games like ESO and Skyrim. These problems all started when I (maybe mistakenly) upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1. After the upgrade I had these widespread sound issues when the sound on these games worked fine before. I EVEN CHATTED WITH A WINDOWS 8 "EXPERT", DID SCREEN CONTROL AND ALL THAT STUFF FOR HOURS, HIS ONLY SOLUTION WAS TO REWIPE MY HARD DRIVES AND GO BACK TO WINDOWS 8 AND DOWNLOAD A PATCH THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT GO 8.1.......you Sir are smarter than a Windows expert lol.

Anyways, it must have been some kind of default sound card setting when it went 8.1. Again, thank you, great fix. PROPS!
