Re: things to experience before finishing the last main quest (lots of questions)

1. Exploring after the main quest can still be worth it. Inner circle quests are blocked off, but if you like exploring, improving equipment, and killing dragons, the game is still fun after completion. I strongly recommend the Trespasser DLC. This DLC takes place two years after the main storyline.

2. While I didn't like Sera the first time I played the game, she grew on me and is now my favorite character. She's a bit of a dimwitted, playful nutcase, which is a nice contrast to some of the other characters. Blackwall has a very interesting personal storyline. Keep in mind that these characters must be recruited before leaving Haven, so you'll have to recruit them in the next playthrough.

3. Redcliffe has a griffin statue honoring the Hero of Ferelden, but it's not really worth visiting.

4. Alistair has a small role if he was king and you sided with the mages. Furthermore:

Spoiler
Alistair or Loghain can be Hawke's friend with the wardens instead of Stroud, depending on which character was with the wardens at the end of the first game.

Unfortunately, Sandal is not in the game.

5. Romance continues in the Trespasser DLC, but not in general post-game exploration.

6. I definitely recommend mixing it up. Sera's banter with Solas and Vivienne is great. The banter system is supposed to be timed, though I feel some areas have less banter than others.

  • Awesome replies. Thanks! Gives me hope with Trespasser DLC 🙂

I look forward to playing again and finding the characters that I missed the first time. For now it is fine that I didn't find them - makes it more focused and minimalistic. Although, I hate the idea of closing many rifts agan and other repetitive things like looting every single corpse manually.

  • I can't imagine a game without Sera. Best thing in the game and my favorite romance.(female only).

    Blackwall's story is a trip...real mind blower.

Level 19 is pretty low for The Jaws of Hakkon DLC if on any sort of difficulty...even easy is brutal under level 24 or so.

Trespasser is odd...fun and frustrating. Has a cool 200,000 gold coin Easter Egg.

The Descent is a really good DLC.

I get so into the story and stuff now that the last game I played...I was level 26 before I unlocked The Fallow Mire.hahaha

My first dragon fight of that game was a one hit kill.(I killed the dragon in one hit)...so careful about starting something too soon and try not to over level.

The Jaws of Hakkon DLC was made slightly more difficult on purpose. The fade rifts especially are a challenge, but they offer a bigger reward.

The first time I played The Descent, I was underlevelled and underpowered. It took me half an hour and all of my 12 health potions (plus healing mist grenades) to finish some of those big fights. There's a reason they couldn't release this on last-gen, and that reason is more epic battles with too much going on. 🙂

I didn't find Leliana in my first DAO playthrough. I forgot to check the bar!
