Re: Unable to Move While Targeting AOE Abilities

The pausing isn't the problem (I disabled auto-pause as soon as I first experienced this problem). With "auto-pause on AOE targeting" disabled (or manually unpausing) when I need to move closer to the enemies I am unable to move until I also hit escape (to stop the AOE targeting). If my reticle is in "target mode" for an AOE I can't move my character. My character isn't actually casting or anything so it makes no sense as far as it being an intentional game mechanic. I assumed it was a weird PC control issue (where my movement keys aren't registering while my mouse is in target mode).

This has caused a few situations where I had to target, realize out of range... hit escape so I can move... target, realize still out of range... hit escape so I can move a bit more... etc etc. The point is that I can't tell when my AOE is in range unless I'm targetting it... but I can't move while I'm targeting it.

It would be nice if when you did an AOE attack, once you release pause the toon would move within range to hit the selected target...guess that would make too much sense.  Hopefully they will fix that with a patch.

It works the same way with a controller, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's not going to be changed. Even if it's an intended mechanic, it can be corrected.

This seems like it's a remnant of the old control schemes where clicking would move your characters into position if they were out of range.  I think the problem is that with a controller the reticle is moved by the same stick that moves your character forward. It seems like this applies to mouse/keyboard, too, even though it makes no sense in a M&K scheme. As you said, you should be able to move your character with WASD as you're targetting an AOE spell, but unfortunately it seems to have been overlooked. Whether it's because they wanted to keep it similar to the controller scheme or not, I can't really say.
