Re: Who's big Idea was to remove Healing magic and Simplify Tactics

I do miss healing magic, I really liked to build healres and tailor their tactics, but I still think that the current system could work, if we had a propper tactics menu. Right now the healing mechanic (only pots) is tedious because you depend on using skills like barriers, guard or nothing in the case of rogues (wich is my case), to prevent damage, which means that they require precise timing to be useful. The use of this skills by the AI right now is.. suboptimal, to put it nicely. My mages will cast barrier as soon as they spot the enemy, wasting half of it if not the whole barrier, taunts are thrown randomly, and the same goes for defensive skills, this coupled with ranged characters staying at melee range screaming for help, and the current state of the tactic camere makes very difficult to enjoy combat.

I think I and everyone that plays as a rogue suffer this more than the rest, because if you're a mage you can cast barriers at the right time, saving pots, and the same if you are a warrior, being able to taunt enemies going for your squishies and using guard to save pots on yourself. As a rogue the flaws of the AI are more punishing, which in turn makes the new healing system not so fun.

The thing is, the current system rewards skillful play, preventing damage before it's done, while the old system was more of undoing mystakes, you got hit and the healer undid it, which could work if we had propper AI tactics, because right now the compaions are far from being skillful.
