Stuck after character creation

So I updated all my drivers, but I still have this problem. After the character creation and the opening cinematic I appear in the Frostbakc Mountains instead of the prison. There's nothing for me to do, no quest is loading.

And tried again several time and once it went well, but my cat managed to unplugged the computer... Since it's always the same,it doesn't work

Here's my DxDiag

Do I have to update something?

  • I don't actually have any answers for you, but my game is doing the same thing. It's now 1:30 am  where I am, and I've been trying to get into this game since 2pm. I have contacted the online help twice to no avail. First guy dismissed me, said he fixed it, tried again hours later, same issue. Next agent was down-right rude, told me to contact them back during regular business hours when they could escalate my case.

So the short story is you're screwed.

I'm super sorry though, hopefully -someone- will get a fix soon and we can all get into our incredible expensive game.

The same bug happened to me. I hope they actually read this and send out a patch for all these bugs

  • I tried windowed mode after doing a repair of the game through Origins and it didn't work ☹️ Lemme know how yours goes though.

  • Try loading up your game and change every setting to Low (lowest) under Options.

I had the same problem as many others, but I managed to pass the intro and character creation. I was able to get into the first map and fight a few demons with Cassandra.

Well, it looked awfull. The graphics was scraped to a minimum. But at least I could get into the game.

It is, at least as far as I can see from all the error describtions, a DirectX problem. The display drivers crash followed by a DirectX error message.

(I have a GeForce card, but I can see you have a Radeon. So, I can't be the problem with tesselation.)

Okay, so I got the game for PC today after playing for years on PS4. I knew being in the Fade like that wasn't normal, so I looked around the entire area, and I found a path on the far side. If you face the stairs when you first end up there, go behind it and a little to the left, and you'll see a pretty wide gap in the mountains that is climbable. Follow it, and keep going until you get over the next hill of the mountain. You'll find yourself overlooking the second broken bridge of the tutorial path(the one after the one you fall through with Cassandra). Go left and follow the path back to the first bridge. It will take some Skyrim-style mountain climbing, but you can do it. Once you go far enough back to the start, the screen will go black, and the game will begin as normal(though the opening cut scene you were supposed to get earlier WILL be a little glitchy until your first choice). This is obviously not a proper FIX to the problem, since you still have to trek back, and it does take a while, but if you spent hours on your character and don't want to lose them, this will at least save you from having to remake them, and give you a chance to save them.
