11 years agoTerrible FPS
In both cutscenes and gameplay my game has awful fps. It doesn't matter if the graphics are on high or low it's just terrible. It's making me really mad because I just got this computer in August and...
Intel i5 4670k (stock speeds)
Gigabyte OC Windforce GTX 770
8GB of RAM
I noticed a few odd frame drops in the tutorial. They occurred for no apparent reason; I could be standing in an empty hallway, and the frame rate would drop to 35 until I left. I really began to suspect that something was up during the first boss fight. I don't think I saw 60fps that whole time. Then I woke up in Haven and looked at the door, only to find that my frame rate had crashed hard. It was at this point that I had to put it down. This game is not playable near 30fps. It feels terrible.
Just to provide some perspective, I've been playing at the games recommended settings. I don't know what exactly goes in to designing an "Auto Detect" setting for PC games, but I've always suspected that they tend to underestimate your hardware. I even changed it to the "High" preset (which is lower than the automatic settings). This changed nothing.
I'm saying all of this because I want to add my situation to this thread, so that maybe it will get some much needed attention.
I personally think it is a little early to say that I'm disappointed in Bioware. I know that sometimes this kind of stuff can be hard to avoid. However, I am disappointed in the lack of real acknowledgement from Bioware/EA. I'm disappointed in the fact we have yet to receive any sort of estimate as to when this will be resolved (as far as I know). I'm angry at the Dragon Age Twitter account for the constant hype updates. Perhaps that is irrational, but at this point I feel like they are taunting me, and all of the other unfortunate users who are not able to enjoy this thing that they paid good money for.
