11 years agoTerrible FPS
In both cutscenes and gameplay my game has awful fps. It doesn't matter if the graphics are on high or low it's just terrible. It's making me really mad because I just got this computer in August and...

Edit: I just relised it doesn't fix the problem for people with other graphics cards. I'm sorry hopefully it can be fixed just as easy.
...and it doesn't totally fix all FPS drops, some seem randomly. Still, between this and disabling origin and online options I have an almost playable game. EA you still need to patch this game!
The question is my friend, why do they need to patch this game?
I mean, we already payed, so... why care about us anymore? Their product is out, is badly optimised, but people are still buying it. It literally makes no sense from a business perspective to patch it and waste money on it. True, patching it would not be costly, but still, those dollars could buy a EA ceo a coffee and a bagle he wouldn't have otherwise.
My ranting aside, seriously, if this turns out to be cause by the DRM than I bet, once someone pirates the game, it will turn out that the pirate version will run a lot more smoothly than our payed versions. And really, that is simply the most annoying perspective, and "screw you" from EA to their customers ever...
you might be right.

What does EA care if DRM only hurts or stops paying customers? We paid! >.>
Well they do have future releases, so they are invested to at least attempt to solve the problem, so that we purchase future titles.

EA and Bioware are seriuos companies.
I play Bioware games from Baldur'g gate times in all these years they always demonstrated their attention to the customer.
DAI is a strategic asset for both companies.
But for sure all the issues on PC version are a problem. QA was not so good and i think that EA forced the release (we are near Christmas time) even if well knowing these issues.
That is why they will patch and they will do enough soon, i guess.
UPDATE:
I have 2-3 posts under this topic.Just a reminder, I have a high-end PC with GTX 980 SLI and i5 3570k with 4.3ghz
As I mentioned before no matter which settings I use game was always between 40-80 FPS bouncing all over the place, lowering the DETAILS didnt help, it just stayed at same FPS range with lesser load on GPUs.
Today I installed WINDOWS 8.1 (I hate it honestly, but wanted to give it one more try) The performance difference is HUGE, I never dip below 70 FPS now everything at ULTRA at 2560x1440 resolution.
I am no windows fan boy, honestly I really hate windows 8.1 but if you are a WIN7 user and have a win 8.1 disc around just like me, give it a try. You will see the huge performance gain with almost no stutter. At least until it gets fixed on win7.
I have Windows 8.1 and i'm getting terrible performance

Thats looks better than what I get. Worse thing is that FPS is not stable.
Well, considering there will be expansions and new DLC coming that's not even an excuse to not optimize the game and fix their problems.

Hi guys,
I have the following rig:
i7 3820 at 4.3ghz
R9 295x2 stock
32GB G skill ares
840 evo SSD
Getting a solid 60 FPS every where except towns with lots of NPCs (crossroads, redcliffe, val royeaux etc) where FPS drops like a b!tch and causes massive slowdown.
Just wanted to say that I decided to take the advice and install win 8.1 on a separate partition and the game runs like an absolute dream and never drops below 60 now. They must have stuffed something up royally with their win 7 optimisations.
Before anyone asks why I don't run mantle, I've tried extensively with mantle but it gives me CPU spikes every 10 seconds that cause really bad stuttering - I just can't play even with it even though FPS is at 60 99% of the time. Oh and the loading times are ridiculous with mantle.
Windows 8.1 did the trick - following this thread due to similar problems. Running a moderate system
GeForce GT 640, Intel Core i3-2120 CPU @3.30 ghz, 4 GB ram
With Widows 8.1, Razer Cortex (disables systems for game boost) and medium graphics the game loads quicker and is more stable then when I was using windows 7. Using 7 I had to play with a book in hand for something to read during the loading time (4-5 minutes) between maps and it would always crash upon exit (hang up at menu screen). Windows 8.1 made the game playable. In the process of upgrading an older computer with an 8 core processor and a gtx 970 so I can play the game correctly.
Windows 8.1 indeed increases my performance tremendously.
Went from 25-45 fps on ultra with MSAA off and No Blue
To 60fps almost everywhere.
Specs
FX8350 4.2ghz
GPU r9 295X2
8 Gig Ram
now Windows 8.1
I have wanted to play this game so badly, that I willing just spent $120 On windows 8.1 just to see if it would work.
I was skeptical at first, but its so buttery smooth now, the experiance has truly changeed. Its unfortunate that i have to pay for 8.1 and Win7 wasnt as optimized for Frostbite3. I think frostbite and win7 dont get along.
My micro stuter is gone, the game was obsolutely unplayable with it. My frames are now stable. Its like playing a different game. Incredible.
I suggest people with Win 7 who have strong rigs to try updating. I hate windows 8.1 though lol.
I just bought it too. The good thing is that I really like Windows 8.1 but was keeping it off my gaming rig. I love this game. I'm willing to try anything to play it.
can you confirm the fps increase?
Finished my upgrade to an 8 core processor and a gtx 970 - OMG the difference is amazing. I feel like I am playing dragon age but with better graphics and a cool story.
OMFG - Yes, I can confirm that too, I installed Windows 8.1 Pro for the first time now (bought it months ago very cheap) and I gained ~20 fps in towns and... holy **bleep** 60 or more fps in open world with my GTX690. But still, I get slowdowns now from 150fps to 30 randomly. Any tips?
Edit:
Just tested how far I can go:
All Ultra now, 4xMSAA -> Stable 60 fps outside of towns, 50 fps in redcliff.
Edit 2:
Probably fixed my slowdowns, related to Ultra textures, switched now to high textures (2GB VRAM only...)
