Hi Niah.
I'd love to know how one is supposed to install stuff via Origins. I don't recall the Black Emporium being quite such a pain, although it was only then when I discovered the need to log in. That was some time ago.
Should I look in 'my games' or 'store' to install ? I was under the impression it should sort itself and be there when the game is opened; as Black Emporium was once I'd logged in. If I right click on the Inquisition icon I see a lot of options but no 'install'. There is an 'uninstall' though. There seems a lack of instruction on what to do; it seems implied it'll just work.
If it is any clue, my excessive time trying to get this to work has uncovered the existence of a Golden Nug, which I'd not spotted before; but I think that is a patch change rather than a Trespasser change. (It seems to be used to cheat and get stuff in the present game that you found in the past ones.) Not helped the issue though.
Yes, I've had both Origin and the game logged in at once. I've never seen a "trials" option in any menu. Including the sub-menus of options.
I've realised the new game may not show anything but the previous ones are not showing anything on the map either. I'm unsure what else to say. In a nutshell it isn't evident. Happy to answer questions if anyone thinks they may have a possible solution.
(BTW probably best if it isn't official EA website as they might censor fair comment about experiences, and not allow others to know what to expect.)
I shall be away from my PC for a few days so although I should be able to visit here I won't be able to try suggestion, or check things to answer, for a while.
Just occurred to me, may be a red herring. When I downloaded the free emporium I was on Windows 7, now I'm on Windows 10.
OK, yeah, I think they changed the way DLC is handled at some point (I wasn't playing much at the time, so I guess I didn't notice).
To get to your DLC, hover your mouse over the game in your library and click the i button.
This should bring you to a page with some information about the game. Scroll down to the add-ons & bonuses section, that's where your DLCs can be found. There are several free multiplayer ones, as well as the Black Emporium, they will all have 'Download' or 'Install' buttons (unless they're installed already, in which case they will just say 'Installed'), as will any DLC you own (such as Trespasser). Anything you don't own will have a 'Buy Now' button.
So, to Install Trespasser, just click the 'Download' or 'Install' button next to Trespasser on that page (sorry, I honestly don't remember which it is, my memory is rather uncooperative some days 😛 ).
Once it has downloaded and installed (there will be a pop-up telling you that it's ready to play), you will need to log in to the Dragon Age servers in game in order for the DLC to authenticate. If Black Emporium works for you, you've done this before or you play logged in all the time.
The golden nug (and a wardrobe in your bedroom at Skyhold) were part of a patch (possibly patch 10, released not long before Trespasser and intended to be the final patch... until Trespasser was just... oh so full of bugs and required another).
This is an official EA website, it is just not a provider of official technical support. 😉
Hope that helps, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. 🙂

The i button. Ah that's news to me. I'll give it a try.
Looking good, it's now actually downloading something. All I needed, it seems, was instructions on the i button prior or during the purchase process; or even that information put as a response in the case I started. The case system is so uninstinctive I could not even add posts to it.
I think EA should employ you. Thank you so much for the explanation. I now see an, "Attend The Exalted Council", quest on the map so trust all is ok.
Again thanks. I'd add 100 XP if I could but I suspect only 1 allowed.
Cheers.
