Unable to install Dragon Age Inquisition from the Disks...

I just picked up DA Inquisitions for my Daughter, however, she is unable to install it from the disks.  It is a  huge download from Origins and we only have a small amount of transfer per month with our ISP.  I need to be able to install it from the disks, and not the crappy Origins Download.  Does anyone know how to do this???  It is completely moronic to sell you a full retail set of disks if you can't use the things...

This is seriously annoying. I have tried 5 times now to install with the disk. My drivers are updated and everything is working but my PC keeps freezing then when I reboot it's not showing anything going on with Origin and it is not downloading anything but says files in use and I have to restart the PC again to try installing again. The Can you run it site says I have over the recommended for playing this and that I should have "great experience running this product."...Going to try just downloading but honestly I bought the inquisitors edition for nothing it seems. Disk not working and the owl was broken, but that is a different subject. If anyone figures out why the disk install is so junk I would love to know, and yes I tried the suggestions posted here and it still froze/said it was busy.

    1. Completely UnInstall Origin

    2. Pop in your Disc 1

    3. Open Containing Folder for Dragon Age Inquisition

    4. Double click on Setup.exe

    5. Download Origin into a Folder where you would like it to be. This can be the same folder you had it before, Just make sure it's into a Folder that is

    named Origin. (example: (G: ) > Programsx86 > Origin > )

5a. Once you installed Origin goto Origin Client. Then click on Origin in the top left corner to Redeem Product Code. Enter Your Product Code from the pamphet inside the Gamecase.

    6. Proceed into Downloading Game from Disc once Origin is Downloaded.

    7. Do Not Change Disc until Pop up from Origin says so. If you do not see pop up then look for the Flashing Origin and mouse over Task bar until you see window pop up. Change to Next Disc and Click Okay Button. Do not worry about the Pop Up for Pictures or Opening the Folder again. You can just Cancel off that window. The Download will continue as normal once you insert the next Disc.

    8. Disc 4 Takes a little longer because it contains the additional content. The Disc may say that it's completed it's download. However once you hear your disc 4 stop spinning it then proceeds to try and download from the additional content. From this point the Game seems to get stalled out. To fix this. Just exit Origin, and start the Game from a Desktop Menu. This opens Origin autimatically and starts updating the additional content. Once the additional content is starting to download then proceed to step 9.

    9. Make sure Additional Content is downloaded by checking Origin Status Downloaded Content. Once done the Update File will Start downloading for you.

    10. Once Game is done downloaded, you can proceed to play the game.

You do not need to reboot your PC.

Please Note that you will not be able to use a Microsoft 360 Rock Candy Wired Controller If you have a Nostromo Controller and or a Orb Weaver Game pad plugged in at the same time. I re-downloaded this game 3 times because of this bug not realizing all I had to do was unplug my Orbweaver gamepad.

I am having trouble with step 3. I have been sitting here attempting to install this game from my disc for hours and stumbled upon this. What does step 3 mean and how do I get to it? My internet download speed means that it will take this game a week to complete and I don't have the luxury of waiting that long.

Sorry for the lack of tech-savviness folks.

Edit: I figured out where the containing folder was, but I am still facing the same problem. Ant tips, seeing as the game has been out for quite some time now?

I HAD SAME PROBLEM FOR TWO HOURS--TRY THIS!!!!!

If you have Origin downloaded, STOP TRYING TO LOAD FROM DISCS.  Go to Redeem Product Code at the Origin Tab on the top left.   Then put in the code that's on the back of the paper insert in the disc case.

EA--WHAT ARE YOU DOING?  Nowhere in your installation instruction does it say to do this.  Embarrassing.

  • @kwilliab How does that help us install from the disc though? That simply lets us download the game which is not what this topic is about. From what I can tell the game will refuse to install from the disc if Origin already exists on your computer. You have to uninstall it, install the outdated version on the disc and only THEN will you be able to install from the disc, maybe, possibly, I haven't actually tried this because it is a beyond stupid solution.

Edit: I figured out how to get the game data off of the discs and avoid downloading 23 of 28GB's. Refer to my next post for information on how to accomplish this.

I just now figured out how to get the data off the game disc and avoided downloading 23 of 28GB. So I only need to download 5GB of data, which would be the patch updates and the free DLC. The solution is pretty simple. You only need to do this if the installer on the game disc is not working.

    1) Copy these 4 files off of the relevant DVD discs, place all of them in the same location (Place them all on the desktop for example). If I made a mistake in regards to which file is on what disc, don't worry, the gist of what I want you to do during this step should be obvious.

    Disc 1: DA3Game.z01

    Disc 2: DA3Game.z02

    Disc 3: DA3Game.z03

    Disc 4: DA3Game.zip

    2) Open EA Origin software.

    3) Register your product key and begin downloading Dragon Age: Inquisition.

    4) Pause the download after 10~ seconds and then quit EA Origin.

    5) Locate where the game is being downloaded/installed to.

    6) Open any of the 4 files I told you to copy off of the game discs in Step 1, use WinRAR 5.30 for opening the file (Don't use 7zip).

    7) Extract the contents to the same location that the game is being downloaded/installed to (location identified in Step #5). Note: You only need to extract the contents of ONE of the 4 files, the contents of the other files will be automatically extracted during the operation. Overwrite any files that already exist in the destination folder.

8a) Open EA Origin software and resume the game download. EA Origin will verify the integrity of the existing files (the files you extracted) before resuming the download.

8b) Watch as it jumps to 23.xx GB downloaded once it finishes verifying the files on the HDD! (It will say "Resuming download" during the verification process, once it finishes and the download actually begins it will change to say "Downloading")

    9) Done.

Note: You might think something similar can be done for Steam games that suffer a similar issue, you're assumption is wrong. Steam games use encryption which prevents you from extracting the game content from the installation files.

Edit: DLC will always need to be downloaded and will be downloaded after the main game has finished updating (Main game is 28~GB).

You can redeem your CD key in EA app to get a digital copy.
Should that not work you can contact EA support so they  can assist you with this problem.

However, as this is an old thread that has been inactive for almost ten years, I am going to lock it to prevent any further necro-posting.

Feel free to create a new thread if you have a questions.
