voice audio bug

i just loaded up the game after a long break and i still can't hear my characters voice and this is from the character creation screen not even in the game yet and i checked for an update on origin and it only shows something was downloaded and its complete however i still don't hear the characters voice at all.

i even went into options and set my audio to default and that didn't help.

so is there some way to update the game with all the patches including fix my audio problem ?.

I just went through all the audio options and its all the same very soft voice where i can't even hear what my char is saying.

also i checked my sound drivers everything is up to date.

how do i get the game patches besides through origin which doesn't seem to update anything for me.

The audio options don't have an effect until you restart the game. If you have a stereo setup, set dynamic range to headphones and restart the game.

  • ok i tried headphones and i can hear my characters voice.

and then switched it back to stereo and i can finally hear my characters voice.

thanks a lot its weird i never thought of changing the audio and exit the game and restart it  (stupid me)

my other little issue is in the middle of my 2nd play through besides the voice bug my difficulty was changed from nightmare to normal losing any chance of getting the nightmare achievement so gonna start over.

Hi all. I've been having the same issue: very distant and faint voice on my character that I initially noticed during character creation. However, this applies to all characters and only in cut scenes. I'm listening through headphones and I've tried every other option (including restarting the game when I select it) and no changes. Any thoughts?

The symptoms you describe are also those of surround sound outputting through a stereo setup. Normally, changing dynamic range to headphones and restartig should work, but if it doesn't, open you speaker configuration in Windows and make sure it's not set to surround sound.

Speakers are not set to surround sound. They're "Speakers (SB Audigy)." I've had issues with them before, but not once in a single application with everything else being fine. Sorry for the time it took to reply.

If you have other audio output devices (for instance your GPU's built-in audio), disable them. Do so in the BIOS if possible.

Everything is disabled except the audio devices registered by my sound card (that's what SB Audigy is). No change.
