Warden Alistair never mentions Romance?

I'm currently in a play through where the Hero of Ferelden romanced Alistair, who stayed with the Wardens after the Hero sacrificed herself to the Archdemon.

Does no one EVER mention that he was in love with her?

A friend of mine has done a play through where they both lived, and she said at one point you can talk to Alistair at Skyhold and he will mention his romantic interest.

I've just completed Here Lies the Abyss, and had Alistair stay behind.  The romantic in me is all like "Now Alistair and his Warden can be together again!"  But nothing was ever mentioned in my game about his relationship with her.  Either from Alistair himself, or from those who knew him or were acquainted with him.  (Leliana, and Varric mentions him as a friend of a friend.)

Is it possible my World State missed this detail, and so it never triggered in my game?  Or did they never put anything in the game for this scenario?  If the latter, I'm rather disappointed.
