Why is the kiss animation for alistair broken?

The pre-tent scene kiss animation is bugged, as you've described.

There are several mods for PC that fix it (IRS-Alistair, ZDF/Zevran Dialogue Fix, tmp7704's Mild Romance Scenes, Qwinn's Fixpack, and I believe Alistair's Revised Romance addresses it as well) but I'm not sure if any of them can safely be installed in an on-going game, and some (Qwinn's and ARR) definitely cannot.
