I mean I get it, they said you need a quad core so obviously dual core is not good but I thought there would be crashes or the game wouldn't run smoothly and I was like "well I can probably live with that" but I did not expect the game just to not start at all. This has really been runing my day. I don't mean to be dramatic but my life hasn't been going so well lately and this was my anchor, what I was really looking forward too and now all it is is a black screen and hell, that's pretty metaphoric.

Actually, just about the time that I answered that -- responding to someone with Vista, instead of what the game is supposed to look for, another Vista user commented that a newer version of Dx11 for Vista had allowed him / her to run this game on that OS.  There have been too many messages for every single one to be read, let alone for the CMs to do so (our handfull of weekdak-day-only EA peacekeepers). 

I attempt to assist with PC gaming configuration suggestions.  This type problem skirts around close to my area (or at least those subjects that I personally attempt to read threads about).  You may very well be able to upgrade to a CPU that will work, unless you have a laptop (I never recommend any brand / make / model other than a very high dollar one, Sager, for game playing purposes.

Patching for dual cores is VERY unlikely.  Patches that optimize some aspects that affect both Quads and Dual core systems may open things somewhat for the (unsupported) Dual core CPU owners, assuming they have the Hyperthreaded processor versions.

Do you have a source for that? As far as I know, this was not promised. Someone from BioWare said it ran on his dual-core processor, but the system requirements are the only official source.

My supposition would be that only one of the really fast C2D i5s with hyperthreading would be a good choice to use a workaround such as this one (and there are likely to be other options of similar nature).  What kind of GPU is it that you tried to use this way? 

 

P. S. To the other kibitzers about this, given the shared game engine, I'm really surprised I've not seen more workarounds for the other games before this (Fifa 15 has the same engine, doesn't it?) .

I believe EA has two game engines. Ignite for sports games and Frostbite for everything else.

Although I had not paid attention to the engine for PAST games about sports subjects, you are correct that the version crafted for Fifa 15 is named "Ignite", and accourding to EA, Fifa 15 was its debut game. 

So, whatever made me think they were "the same" must relate to the source, that a rebuild, recraft effort was invested in parts of Frostbite adapted to sports coverage, not the actual Frostbite engine, unaltered.

I noticed that when I change affinity while the game is running on my 8 core processor to only 3 cores the game will crash. The game is clearly designed to rely on at least 4 parallel threads. If your dual core processor can handle running 4 parallel threads (like some of the Intel i3/i5 processors) then you can probably run this game as those processors have 2 logic processors per core. Those would likely be the only exception to this rule.

It sucks right now but gamers have been begging for better multi-threaded games for years... apparently very few realized this would eventually mean future titles could require 4 or more parallel threads.

the Extreme Injector V3 that people are using in farcry 4 for working on dual core, works on dragon age inquisition, im testing right now and its working(some lags but working, better than buy a new PC :P), look in youtube for farcry 4 dual core fix, they show how to use and good play guys :D

How did you do it? I get an error, saying something about kernel.dll ☹️

Edit: Nvm, the injection worked. I had to deactivate auto-inject and do it manually.

The problem is that these games are not becoming optimized for more threads. I would accept it more easily if they were, and I would actually commend EA (or Ubisoft in the case of Farcry 4.) They are just running on different threads because of the architecture of the new consoles. If the new consoles had three-threaded CPU's then the games would be running on tri-cores. Don't expect these games to take full use of a desktop quad or octo-core though, because the console octo-cores are very, very, very weak and are absent of many features that PC CPU's have. The only thing this is evidence of is a lazy port to PC and actually a poorly optimized game overall (consoles are having many performance problems that the PC version has.) As for the thread-count, it seems to be more dependent on certain threads rather than the number of threads. Many people with Quad-Cores had to disabled their threads to get the game to run, and it is likely that they had to disable certain ones and keep others running. That substantiates further that this game is not optimized for more threads, but rather the use of certain threads. And that is silly, all threads are indistinguishable (in these CPU's) other than the code to assign them.
