Characters Feel (Slightly) Physically Too Small For the World
Is it just me? It feels like the game world was originally built to scale then last minute the dev made a design decision to shrink all character models by 15% to make the world look bigger.
More specifically:
- Every jump feels just too high or just out of reach. It feels very unheroic if 95% of my jumps Rook falls short and have to reach with her fingers to catch her from falling or pull herself up.
- There are a LOT of steps that are slightly too high to trigger the auto matic climb that I have to physically jump on to.
- Even the simplest shortest gap that would never be a challenge in other games requires me to make a running jump just to make sure I can cross it.
This is all with a human Rook set to max height, too. This doesn't make me feel the world is any grander, it just makes me feel unheroic and clumsy.
I'm not even talking about ancient elven architecture (which is shown in the game to be of the same modern elven height any way). This applies to Treviso, Minrathus, and other urban areas as well. I just can't understand how these civilization architecture came to be. Did the Dutch colonize Thedas before Andraste's revolution? Because architectural measurement norms would be based on the average height and other attributes of its native citizenry to ensure convenient living. With everything feel just slightly taller, larger, and out of reach it must be a pain in the butt for all of its citizens to get around, too.
At this point I can't imagine they do any kind of rescaling of the game, but I think an easy fix would be to simply make Rook jump 15% farther and higher to compensate.
