not having a quick save seems like a really weird decision.
Yes, that's just really weird.
I had a save and the game crashed in the process (I was expecting that as a result of many alt-tab and programs started and closed during the game session). Lost that save. Imagine if I were using quicksave only instead of separate save slot. Especially when you get closer to the end. 100 save slots are more than enough for a full run and if there are not, you can delete the one you don't need.
I know I do about 5-10 times less separate saves when I have the option of quicksave.
Every modern game does rolling quicksaves, which means you keep a pool of, for example, the 5 most recent quicksaves.
Also, I usually do quicksave, full save, quicksave, every 5-10 minutes or so. Exactly because of potential crashes like that. And then, before decisions or important moments, I like to do another full save, named, so I can go back to them in the future. Like I said, I collected 3274 saves during my playthrough of DA:I. I spent 160 hours in that game (including the DLC, and also I 100% every single collection quest, those **bleep** bottles and mosaics and shards). If you do the maths, that's every 3 minutes on average.
I never delete saves. I even back them up. I have a collection of saved games from all sorts of games. I keep them for life.
