Unable to dodge on PC

I've tried rebinding the dodge to several different keys, no luck. I'm also unable to utilize the 'quick recovery' option after suffering a knockback, and can't use one of the early mage talents that incorporates dodge in the ability. The game is exceptionally difficult without the ability to dodge.

  • Workaround: Set the controller Trigger dead zone setting to max (0.90). (in Control Settings in-game)

    This worked for me.

Can confirm that setting the deadzone worked on my Tartarus! Thank you FireDragonus!!! Weird that the deadzone worked for a keyboard style controller but I will take it!

Windows see the Razer Tartatus as a Controler. I think it is because of the Thumb controls that are like a controller controls.  Weird, but true.  Some gaming keyboards are also seen as controllers, not keyboards.  This is mostly because of the arrow keys,

Confirmed.  This worked for me as well. Thank you FireDragonus.

Same problem. That one fight early in the game was suuuper hard only because of this. No matter how I try to bind them, dodging/rolling just doesn't work at all.

It is a bug unfortunately. If you have a controller of some kind (For me it was my Razor Taurtarus) then the keybind for dodge won't work no matter what you bind it to. If you unplug the controller you will be able to dodge. Plug the controller back in again and no more dodging.

I play flight/space sim games, so I have a plethora of other controllers. Unfortunately, not feasible to unplug them. Unless a hotfix comes out fast, might have to refund and wait for a patch.

  • One report of Razor keyboard causing same issue as well on another thread.....may have issues with ANY "gaming keyboard" that offer special buttons and the like....I personally recommend trying a plain keyboard and seeing if issue goes away......

There is an option on game settings where you can switch between holding a key or tapping it. Default values is "hold", try the tap option see if is any difference.

  • Same issue, I played all the other Dragon Age games with my Razer Tartarus with no problem. Now this 'leading edge PC game' won't allow me to dodge or use my beam (mage) come on guys, we need at patch asap

The fix for the Razer Tartarus no dodge (I could not shoot a bow either, the hip fire button) is to go into Windows device manager and disable "HID game controller".
