I wonder if this could be due to Windows 11 changes in Print Screen works.

Microsoft's Windows 11 update KB5025310 changed the behavior of the Print Screen (PrtScn) button to open the Snipping Tool instead of capturing the entire screen

When you press print screen on Windows 11 you should be asked to highlight the area you want to capture with the Snip tool. That will grab your highlighted image, but it doesn't save it instead it goes to your clipboard, you have to then save it somewhere like Paint, or a Word Doc, etc
Can you let me know if when you hit prnsc if you see the snip tool icons appear somewhere and the screen gets darker?
Like Draiad says, I am also on Win 10 not 11
