Armor texture/detail bug [PC STEAM]

Anyone else noticing a weird texture bug with some armor? The Blood Dragon one and the Recruit's Simple Tunic turn into a low rez version from short distance. Like the textures unload or something. I have everything at ultra. Doesn't seem to matter in the slightest if I'm using DLSS or not. It's like the texture filtering is bugged for some armor.

Not the best pictures, but if you look here, you can see the torso part of the armor is really blurry and lacks a lot of detail

And when you zoom in it looks more detailed, tho still not great.

Or here look at this. When I'm in the character menu while I'm at the lighthouse, the armor looks fine.

In the character menu, when I'm NOT in the lighthouse, the armor looks really bad.

Again, everything is on ultra. Not sure if this is a me issue, or if it's like this for everyone.

    Same problem.

Antaam armor got even more problems, some details disappearing...looks like this armor was, let's say, "copy\pasted" from Qunari warrior models without proper editing, so it keeps extremely low LOD -> low texture settings(even in inventory) which results in missing details.

Same issue with basically every outfit Rook wears. My favorite (the fur-lined coat also worn by Antoine) looks fine on NPCs in the same cutscene, but blurry on my character.

I just thought that was for 8BG cards in the DF video. What I'm using is 16GB. I'm not even halfway into my VRAM on ultra.

  • This is still an issue.

From the texture quality setting only fade-touched option doesn't have this issue. And this problem with textures started when fade-touched texture quality was added in a patch.

  • That is a side effect of upscale method, usually happens during dialogs. Try to disable it and it won't happen anymore. I use Xess ultra quality and it's still happens from time to time but to the stage where is not a bother anymore and the resolution drop is almost unnoticeable.

Thanks for the tip but unfortunately turning off upscaling did not fix it for me.

It's such a shame, I remember when Veilguard was released I had everything on high settings and the game looked very crisp and no texture issues at all. Now with the same settings almost all armor textures are just mush.

In some texture quality settings it is more noticable than others, so I guess I have to settle on one that is the most bearable.
