Can’t See Character in Menu

The female character I made is the avatar that I run around with and who shows up in cutscenes, but when I go to the character screen it’s a generic and bald male character. I guess I should be happy that it didn’t mess up totally, but it’s bumming me out. I’ve tried going into the wardrobe and mirror, but nothing has helped. Anyone else run into this?
