Can't delete saved games on Steam

I have the game on steam and have reached my save limit after 51 hours of gameplay. The game won't let me overwrite or delete saves, so I cannot complete the game unless I play through the rest of the game in one sitting. The game also stopped autosaving at around 7 hours. I have tried manually deleting save files in the save folder, but it still shows them in game.
