Regrets Of The Dreadwolf Invisible Wall

I can't finish the quest Regrets of the Dread Wolf because of a bug I encountered toward the beginning of the game.

The first memory bugged out (the gates/doors were closed, but none of the enemies would spawn to progress the quest) and I can't remember if I map traveled somewhere or restarted, but I've played like another 70 hours or something since then, and I can't get back into the memory. It's like there's an invisible wall there.

I'm really, incredibly irritated. I read not being able to finish this quest line impacts the kind of ending I can get.

I'm on PC, through Steam.

Kelliewolke This was supposed to be resolved in one of the earlier patches. The issue now is that because they are save files, if it bugged out early on, you may not be able to finish it unless you reload a save, but then you go back that far, and you might as well start over.

From what you said, though, in the invisible wall, many others reported the same thing. The patches are not retroactive, so I took a look, and if you were stuck, you were stuck. I've been looking around, but past reloading all the way back, there doesn't seem to be a workaround that has worked for players past starting over or reloading before it bugged out.

EA_ShepardBut here's the thing; I purchased Veilguard on December 16th. That was after the last patch. So if a fix was included in a patch, I shouldn't be dealing with this. Right? It must still be bugged.

Theoretically, no, you should not be. I've looked up this issue on the dev side of things and did confirm it was resolved. If it isn't in other playthroughs, I have to find more players currently having the same issue on multiple playthroughs or from a dev side. It kind of looks like a one-off issue, and I don't want that ignored if you can't actually continue. A missing chest is one thing, but a wall where you can't progress is game stopping.

So does that mean there's a fix coming? Or even a workaround? It seems like theres a lot of people who don't want to finish the game without completing this quest but as far as I can see there's no info or communication regarding this issue specifically?

I do not know. When we report it to the team, it leaves our hands. When they push an update, we won't know what is fixed until those notes are live. There are quite a few people having that issue, and I've let them know with all the links I could find on it, so it has been an issue for sure. The only communication you would see is me on the forums or another CM letting players know it's a known issue.

Well, I appreciate you doing what you can. My husband and I bought the game together, and we both stopped playing because I didn't want to finish the game after this. I'm hoping to come back to it eventually, after a patch or two. I might just wait until the fall to try again.

On a (maybe) happier note, I hopped over to Inquisition instead, which I've never played, and it's fantastic.

kelliewolke Of course, I am on my second playthrough (Mage FOrtunes of Gold) to mix it up, so if it is an issue and we can't get through it, we can't finish and enjoy our games.

I am curious, though, just for my own peace of mind, have you progressed further in side quests or anything?

I would like to see if you, for example, saved a new save file, that way, you could test just moving on and seeing if it fixes it after a few side missions. Not sure if you did that but if not worth a shot!

Never played? Oh, you are going to spend some hours in that game! Note, you can leave the Hinterland at any point in the beginning lol. I stay because I'm a completionist but make sure you explore the entire area!
