Yes this exactly - the most recent save seems to be the most reliable for recovering it, though on mine it does take a few tries - usually three. Once its there, I can progress in the game fine without my character appearance changing. But I can't go back to an old save without it happening, and once I've attempted to reload an old save the game won't load my character's custom appearance at all. So I then have to quit, restart the game and load the most recent save again in the hopes it will work. Very frustrating!
Mine's the same whether it's an autosave or manual save and I'm so frustrated after waiting 3 hours for this game to even download not even to mention the character creation time and the hours in the game I might be losing from this stupid **bleep**.
