Companions aren't popping skills when prompted

Companions were able to use their skills no issue until about an hour or so into playing, they just wont use them anymore. I bring up the ability menu and select a target for a companion to use their ability, marks it with a little checkmark and then when i exit the ability menu nothing happens. Skill is just like its never been used. Couldn't even make use of the Priming and Detonating tutorial because neither companion would use their skills.

  • Ok just discovered that if you change your controller key mapping it breaks the ability to use companion skills. Resetting everything to default fixed it. Still a REALLY annoying bug

Ya it also took me like a solid day or so to figure out that it was my key mapping that broke it. Luckily I didn't have to reset everything just the ability menu back to its default

I'm having literally the same issue. Couldn't even use the prime + detonate ability. Hoping that I can still play the game as much as possible without being able to use companion abilities but this is really really annoying. Can't even be healed by anyone so have to just rely on my potion stock and dodging a lot

Thank you both for figuring it out, I was completely unaware companions did not use abilities until the detonator tutorial. Now I'm using the original binding (TAB) and my own, I just have to remember to close the ability menu with TAB.

But this is just getting emabarassing for Bioware/EA. First no ability to bind movement to arrow keys, now this. Did anyone tested key binding support during development?
