controller stopped working after update

I'm beyond frustrated after 50+ hours in the game, playing on PC and my xbox controller is no longer recognized.  I have the EA store version of the game (not steam).  I've unplugged all other HID devices and repaired the game files in the EA Play app.  If I turn on Enable Steam Input in the Steam app, about 1/2 the buttons will be recognized but the camera rotates, points up, and sticks -- looking up my Rook's nose.  I have no idea why changing a Steam setting would have any impact.  The game is unplayable now.

    I am having the similar issues. character looks up after stuttering. Keyboard and mouse keeps changing between controller even though there is no keyboard plugged in.
