"Diagonal Lines" moving across image during gameplay

Hello, I've noticed a strange issue when playing the game where there appear to be something akin to "scan lines" or diagonal lines moving across the screen. It's especially noticeable when slowly panning the camera and looking at darker areas. Though it is also visible with the camera still. It's hard to take a picture of, but looks something like the image I've at the bottom of my post (credit to /u/blueprint92). I have exhaustively tried to resolve this issue by modifying game settings, Nvidia Control Panel settings, and TV settings (I am playing on an LG C4 OLED). The issue is present across the entire image but particularly noticeable during darker scenes (for example, in the very first area of the lighthouse with the mirror and chest after the prologue).

I am playing on a well-maintained system that I built less than a year ago. It is running a very fresh install of Windows 11, with windows and all drivers up to date. I do not experience any artifacts or aberrant behavior in any other games that I play on this system and TV. Therefore, I believe it to be an issue with the game itself.

Troubleshooting steps that I have tried include:

  • Changing from borderless window to fullscreen and trying different refresh rates (59.97, 60, 120, etc.)
  • Disabling/Enabling G-Sync/VRR on both the TV and NVIDIA app.
  • Disabling/Enabling V-Sync in-game.
  • Changing all graphics settings to low (in case this was due to some kind of post processing).
  • Disabling all ray tracing effects, upsampling, dynamic resolution scaling, and anything else that might possibly affect the image.
  • Disabling HDR in windows and in the game.
  • Setting Color Depth Output to 8BPC, trying YCBCR 4:4:4, Limited/Full Depth in the Nvidia Control Panel.
  • Trying another 4K monitor (the effect was less visible, but it was there. Seems the panel on my C4 exacerbates the issue and makes it far more noticeable).
  • Completely powering off all devices (unplugging them)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, though I believe this to be an issue with the game and am hoping that someone from EA/The Bioware Team sees this and can possibly escalate this for investigation. I have a technical background and would be more than happy to assist with any further troubleshooting. This issue is very distracting and impeding my ability to enjoy the game. Thank you!

- Zach

Yeah i know i dont use Dolby Atmos Pc setting...
Maybe is there any people with same problems on AMD cards or older Nv cards?
I found almost exactly the same problem on the internet in some other games, and some people wrote its DSC problem - not confirmed...
I dont know but its interesting, i played several other games in the last months neither has the problem...
Playing with vsync ingame makes it a little better (nvidia settings gsync off, vsync 3d application use), but vsync on is almost the worst, vsync 1/2 you got half framerate but its much better IF you set the refreshrate to 60 and you get 30 fps. If you set refresh rate to 120 and got 60fps with vsync 1/2 its almost the same as before with just turn vsync on....

Yeah, I did notice that fps/vsync settings seem to affect this somehow. Even on the TV at one point just changing the "true motion" option as I think it was called, changed the direction of the lines. But I still don't understand why this problem only happens with this game, especially in borderless window mode, where it should not have the ability to change anything about the output.. I've tried pretty much everything so at this point I think I'm just going to hope someone finds a fix or we can get to the bottom of this somehow :\

  • I have this issue but it depends on what monitor I'm using. I have it on a 1080p 75Hz TN panel but not my usual 1440p 144Hz IPS one. However, this is the only game I have this issue with (otherwise I'd just blame my monitor). I'm guessing something about this game doesn't play well with certain displays? I haven't found a fix/setting that eliminates the issue.

edit: to clarify it’s also situational. It doesn’t happen in well lit areas but happens in foggy/dim areas and the games loading screens/menus. In D’Meta the ground looked fine meanwhile the fog looked horrible. ASUS VP248QG monitor has the issue.

Setting resolution in-game to 1600x1024 seems to eliminate/minimize the issue drastically, but that kinda looks terrible. In general changing the resolution will change the direction of the lines.

EDIT: I was able to "fix" the issue by using Nvidia's DLS to have my monitor render at 2560x1440p. Clearly something is wrong with the game that affects certain resolutions or monitor specs more than others? Either way, as a workaround I'd suggest trying messing with DLS and seeing if thats a suitable workaround for now until EA responds.
