[EA App] [PC] Possible Workaround for DLC Chest, not Spawning - Do not Skip

Hi All

I have noticed that my DLC content ( Pre-order and Deluxe ) and chest do not spawn on my first visit to the lighthouse if I skip the dialogue between the following positions ( all numbered bullets below). 

  1. last decision choice at the ritual site when stopping Solas
  2. the dialogue of the cutscene
  3. the dialogue with Solas trapped in the fade
  4. the dialogue with Varric in the infirmary

This is following my observations from this post [EA App] Sign in With Your EA Account Error | EA Forums - 5033713

If you skip any dialogue, it seems to stop the game from spawning the chest and a pop-up, presumably a synchronisation error with the online content servers.

Hopefully, EA and Bioware can confirm this as repeatable in testing and patch it in a fix.

    I have also had to quickly reload the following Save Game, the temporary one created as soon as you spawn in the Lighthouse and can move around before you go out and explore.

    The third image below is to cross-reference the date and time of the save game between these posts and one via the link provided in my OP above to my other topic thread, where I will post my observations after resolving my DLC licensing issue with the inactive EA Play Sub.

      It should also be noted that if I click far too fast on the " Skip " button at the bottom right (see image), the game Dragon Age The Veilguard can crash to the desktop without an error message.   We are talking about a clicking speed of around 6 clicks per second, a rough measurement.

    I don't think skipping cutscenes is the main cause of this as my first playthrough I didn't skip any and I never got the chest to spawn. However the last 4 characters I created to see if it finally worked I did skip the dialogue and it never spawned as well so I'm not sure what the cause is.

      Most of us had the same issue during the first playthrough ( within the first month since the release date ).

      Since then, 11-xxxxx folders ( Characters)  have been generated in my save games folder [context for my observations] on the PC, and my observations have been mixed, but the summary is as follows;

      1. Skipping the lines of dialogue has prevented the chest from spawning
      2. I have noticed it continues to potentially prevent the DLC ( pre-order and deluxe items ) content from unlocking in the wardrobe when I get to Rook's room and first meditation to talk to Solas 
      3. Admittedly, I also had issues with DLC and EA Play, so I had to get this fixed first
      4. Many Xbox and PS5 users have reloaded a save game just before getting to the lighthouse for the first time and this fixed the no chest spawning issue & bonus content pop-up (whereby the latter can be affected EA Play Sub or lack of Sub and issues with licensing )

       

      So far, I have confirmed from my last two generated Rooks that "Skipping the lines of dialogue" on the immediate run-up " cutscene and conversations with Solas and Varric" has a high chance of causing problems.

      I have two Rogues and one Mage to generate, so I will still have one character for each specialisation ( another three attempts to confirm and validate the hypothesis ).

      However, I hope EA will pick up on this and do some internal testing in case it is a real issue that they and Bioware can patch.

    Thank you for setting this up. I sent the post, and your other one to them as feedback so that they could have a look at it. I am hoping this helps others, and one of the main reasons I never skip that dialogue!
