Hey, Rook! it seems like you're not alone with this issue! There have been other reports of similar bugs with two-handed weapons from players not displaying the flame effect correctly. It's definitely a minor visual bug, but it's understandable that you'd want to see your two-handed axe on fire as well! Some effects are just way too cool not to show off in combat.
While there isn't a specific fix at the moment, There are a few ways you can change it. Now if you equip another item, and level that item and progress, you can swap them back to see if the game synced correctly. in the discussions.
You could try reloading an earlier save or checking the game forums for any community-provided workarounds but you may end up going too far back to keep playing the game again after losing progression.
