Issues with Controls

The controls of this game are incredibly unresponsive. At first it was just slightly annoying but I forgave it because the game ran well, but, now... after 20 hours... I'm just so sick of how unresponsive the controls are in this game.

Any time there is a object you can interact with you are more likely to jump over the item then you are to interact with it because they are the same button and the game can't decide what to do whenever you get next to something interactable. It's extremely frustrating to have to stop, wait, and hope that when you press the interact button the correct action will happen. When you're trying to pick something up during combat it can become impossible.

The issues with interactable objects and jumping affect combat as well. Since the dodge button is tied to the recover button in the same way the interact button is tied to jump; when you try dodge or recover the game has the same issue reading those inputs and half the time, while in combat, your character just won't do anything when you press B. When you fall down the window to hit B and recover is not at all in sync with the prompt on screen so you can press B when it says on screen but your character won't get up. You have to mash it over and over and hope something happens. Pressing B to dodge is a complete toss up as well. It works more then the other buttons but if you're near something interactable or maybe it's stairs your character also won't read the input and dodge.

The last battle I had in-game I died because the game cluttered my screen in incoming danger prompts but wouldn't let me dodge because I tried to pick up a object, but, my character jumped instead, I got hit by the attack, my character fell and the game tells me to press B to recover... I press b and nothing happens... I press b again and nothing happens... I start mashing b and nothing happens and I get a game over.

This makes the act of playing the game extremely tedious and frustrating... I mean.. it wasn't that bad for the first 10 hours, but, now I am yelling at the screen every few minutes because I can't play the game the way it's asking me to play it because any time a button prompt appears on the screen the game doesn't read inputs correctly. Its not okay.

And the automated systems meant to make the game easier to play actually make the game more difficult. If you know how to aim a cursor the auto aim the game uses will direct your cursor away from the enemy like they're polar opposites. I had to fine tune to games accessibility options to make aiming the cursor possible in game. That's wild and unheard of.  I just don't get what BioWare were thinking when they made the game work like this.

  • You know there are a host of controller settings to make it all more responsive, right?
