keyboard controls extremely buggy

The keyboard controls routinely become completely unresponsive. It's happened quite a few times while exploring, which was extremely annoying but not game breaking. 

But now it's happening during combat. My keyboard becomes completely **bleep** useless for upwards of 30 seconds, and nothing I do can fix it. It's not a problem with my keyboard, either.
