[PC] Mage: Standard Attack

[PC - Windows 10. AMD CPU + AMD MSI card + Xbox Series S|X Controller]

I compared the way the Mage attacks in Dragon Age Inquisition VS the one in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. It TRULY feels like how he/she attacks is a bug, as it's this slow windup for a single attack, whereas in Dragon Age Inquisition, there was a clear method which was flowing, as you attacked. And the more you attacked, it always felt that you connected your attack. In The Veilguard? Absolutely not.

In The Veilguard, it's deemed as a "weak attack", which makes sense for your primary attack, as it does lower damage. THAT SAID: The windup etc. to that attack is WAY too slow for it to be considered a weak attack, AND it doesn't flow or connect whatsoever. I find myself always moving out of the way after using a stronger mana based attack.

Yes, I am aware that you can press X once, and then hold X for a 3 hit "combo". This doesn't always work, and because we're talking about a Mage here, the lack of flow makes it VERY hard to play as a Mage the way like it was intended in Dragon Age Inquisition. Maybe this isn't a bug in The Veilguard, but I am 100% sure that it is, since it makes absolutely no sense that a "weak attack" has a massive windup.

My suggestion: Make the Mage's standard attack the standard attack like Dragon Age Inquisition.

  • Yup yup! So wierd that the attack makes no sense you know. I hope they fix this bug soon, as it makes the game harder to play. When it comes to elite monsters in fact, I am always moving out of the way because they always target me. Which means I do one attack and then move out of the way. Rinse and repeat.

That is ALL the time honestly. If you're lucky, you run away and you either regen some mana or get multiple hits.

Yeah, it sorta feels heavy(?). I was too pre-occupied with the windup of the mage to notice the heaviness, honestly. But you're right though. That part doesn't bother me, as it doesn't impact the game in comparison to the windup.

  • I can't wait for them to fix that issue. I am beginning to get tired of this. It can't be that hard to fix it. I know both games use the same engine.

I know, right? I figure they can just "copy and paste" the animation so to speak, from Inquisition.
