SOLVED:
Well, EA Support has sorted out the problem for me. It turns out that even though I don’t use the EA app, clearing the app’s cache has fixed the issue and the game is now running smoothly.
Open the app, go to Help (top left, tap the three lines), select App Recovery and Clear Cache. Restart your computer and the problem is solved.
