Direct X Errors
I am getting a ton of Direct X errors in this game now. "DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The GPU will not respond to more commands"). GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090", Driver: 57242. This error is usually caused by the graphics driver crashing, try installing the latest drivers. GPUBreadcrumbs. It seems to happen randomly after the game has started, sometimes during a cutscene or sometimes when I am in the open world (boots into the game fine). It does not freeze/crash my entire PC, but just the game is effected. I have tried the following troubleshooting steps: Freshly Reinstalled Windows 11 (I recently upgraded changed motherboards) Ensured latest BIOS is installed Ensured latest Chipset drivers are installed Went into REGEDIT and added TdrDelay and TdrDiDelay to the value of 30 Used DDU to reinstall Nvidia driver 572.42 Changed various in game graphics settings (used with and without DLSS, Frame Gen, etc) Turned on/off strand hair option (specific to this game but made no difference) Ran furmark for an hour to ensure stability If anyone has any other tips, it would be greatly appreciated. I will try that and report back. EDIT 2: Turning off Ray Tracing, entirely in fact, did not work. In fact, it seem to error right away during a cutscene. Edit 3: I have deleted the shader cache, settings file, reinstalled the game, set shader cache to 100GB, tried playing without shaders, tried playing in "potato mode" you name it, I still get Direct X errorGraphics bug
every time I play dragon age veilgard, I have issues with the graphics. It’s now got that bad that I can’t play the game. it started off with graphics not loading in for all surrounding environments and now does the same for even characters clothing. The only graphics that loads properly is characters faces. Now the floor has started disappearing walking through every locations. I can’t even get to where I need to go in Dock town as all the floor has gone, I can only hope from wall to wall hopefully I don’t fall in the water below. i really love this game, but I can’t play it anymore. I’ve done all the normal restarts too but no luck. I play on Xbox too for some context.Taash Conversation Bug
Hey, I've had a weird bug in the game for the last two days. Every time I try to talk to Taash in the dining room, the game crashes without any error message, and I end up back on my desktop. I've already finished the quest with the Fangscorcher, so it should be the next one, or maybe she just wants to chat. Thanks, LiskaLoad Error
Every time I load somewhere outside the Lighthouse, I get a 'Load Error' and can't load the game. It's made the 3rd act basically impossible because unless I finish it all in one go, I can't save and quit. I'm on my second playthrough and it's just come back in that one after being a pain in the butt on my first. The game will load for a half a second after closing the error message before kicking me back to the main menu. The game is installed on an internal SSD, so that's not the problem and my graphics are set to medium. Please tell me there's a fix because it's really frustrating.PC Load Screen Freezing (black screen during load or crash)
**LOAD SCREEN FREEZING** (Black screen with purple loading icon in lower right corner, video lock up needing hard restart issues, or window crashing to desktop after starting) This is a shader compiling issue. So, this issue has been affecting many ever since the game launched. I had this issue, ensured everything was updated (BIOS, GPU drivers, etc.), run as administrator, compatibility modes, restarts, disabling various graphics features, etc., etc., etc. None of it worked. Many folks mentioned deleting (or simply removing) the shader_cache folder in the game files and it worked. As a workaround, it caused some performance issues but the game was playable, until the most recent update. Now, if you attempt this work around it says there are "Corrupted Files" and you have to run the repair if you want to play. So that workaround is out the window. Spoke with EA Support earlier about this issue and was told it's a known issue causing problems for lots of various hardware configurations/platforms (i.e. PC, PS5, XBox). Supposedly a fix is in the works and set to be released sometime "soon." Added the usual "some people are having issues because of outdated BIOS causing crash during shader compilation" bit. No help there, my BIOS is up-to-date, still no luck. Also mentioned that some people apparently have had issues with nVidia graphics driver versions newer than Version 560.94 (tried a rollback to this version as well, didn't help). All in all, it sounds like some of us are simply out of luck until they release a fix....CTD on start up (does not load to the main menu)

Any other time, the game crashes before the main menu. In both cases, there are no error messages or any pop-ups indicating any reason for crash. Computer is not having thermal issues, and issue is specific to Veilguard. Contacted Customer Support and they recommended I post here. Hello Rooks, We've noticed reports of Dragon Age: The Veilguard crashing during cut scenes. This issue seems to occur across various points in the game and has been highlighted in community discussions, such as this Steam thread. When uploading, include the following details to help us better understand the issue: Where: Specify the exact cut scene or location where the crash occurs (e.g., after completing a quest, during a specific dialogue, etc.) When: Let us know if the crash happens consistently at the same point or if it seems random. How: Share any actions leading up to the crash (e.g., interacting with a specific NPC, entering an area, etc.). This issue is occurring on PC through Steam, so be sure to also include: Your PC specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, operating system, etc.). Any mods or third-party tools you're using, if applicable. I've seen people with similar complaints but I've yet to see anyone with a solution. At this point, I'm convinced it's an issue with the actual game and the only way for the crashes to stop is for Bioware to release a patch and address the issue. The game originally ran fine for me but 2 days after release the game just started randomly crashing to desktop. No error or anything. It also crashes steam as well and I am unable to relaunch steam or any other app, instead I get the message, "this app is unable to run on your PC." Everything is fixed once I restart my PC. At this point, the game crashes anywhere from 1 min in to maybe 30 mins, on medium settings if I'm lucky, and maybe 10 mins max on high settings. The game used to run perfectly for me on high settings with no issues on release. I have an AMD graphics card and CPU that are above the recommended requirements. I have tried playing this game on steam deck and while the FPS sucks and I have to use low settings, there are no crashes. I have tried everything including: uninstalling and reinstalling the game verifying game files both deleting shader cache and restoring it uninstalling and reinstalling steam updating my graphic drivers and chipset updating my BIOS resetting my BIOS settings to default both enabling and disabling XMP completely uninstalling and reinstalling windows enabling DLSS lowering game settings and turning off hair stand ...and more that I probably can't even remember right now. I have spent hours trying to find a fix. At this point I don't even expect anyone to have a solution but I'm making this post so EA and Bioware are aware of this constant, random crashing that is making the game that I spent $80 on unplayable.Xbox Can't progress - ground missing, excessive loading
Played through once with no issues. Started a new playthrough, and the game is now unplayable. I noticed someone else posted about this, but the post seemed to have been ignored, so I'm posting again. Loading times in and out of cutscenes has become excessively long. The screen goes blank, and it seems as though the game has frozen or crashed, but then after 30-45+ seconds, it will eventually load. This is frustrating but not game-breaking. The most serious and game-breaking new issue arose when starting The Smuggled Relic Case quest. Upon travelling to Dock Town, in the opening cutscene and convo, the cobblestone streets of Minrathous have vanished, and Neve and Rook are walking on nothing. As soon as the quest loads to following Neve, Rook immediately starts falling until they hit an open body of water and die. Attempting to load the most recent save immediately opens with Rook falling again. It's an endless loop. I can go back to the save right before attempting to start the quest, but as soon as I travel to Dock Town it automatically starts the quest, and the same issue returns. It is now impossible to progress the main story. I have tried restarting the game, restarting the console, reinstalling the game.Solved
