When I buy a valuable that adds a permanent buff (like Dragon's Bounty with +25 HP), I can see on my character sheet that the bonus is applied. However, the next time I save and load, the bonus is gone.
I can reproduce this consistently and so far for all types of buffs from valuables I've found.

Same. I didn't even notice this was happening until I was already 50+ hours in because I just never checked my stats page.
Have had the same issue with the save and reload thing with the “permanent” buffs being gone after you save and reload.

I came here to say the same thing. I bought several "permanent" buffs, only to see the stats are gone when I loaded my save the next day.
This is one of those issues that's game-breaking for me. I absolutely cannot play the game until they fix this issue. Making builds is the most important part of gameplay for me. Seeing my stats and making sure everything is working is critical. I can not play this game any further until they fix this asap!
That sucks man. I 100% agree with Your statement that making builds is mandatory for this kind of game. TBH I will finish the game with that bug. I just decided to act as those items never existed. My reasoning is that It can be bug with game saves. If that is the case, there is a big chance those items are permanently gone, you will never get buffs back and fix will be only working with newly used items on new save. Anyway I was thinking that I could play 2nd playthrough with other class... well I will wait until they fix this.
While it's annoying that it doesn't work, it doesn't ruin builds or break the game in any way. It just doesn't add the extra power, defense, or health like it should. And it's not even that much. If you bought all of the damage buffs, it would prob be an extra 10% damage. Super annoying, just not game breaking. Just my friendly opinion of course.
I appreciate all of your replies. I play on the hardest game mode, so for me, every percentage matters. It breaks my immersion when combat mechanics don't work correctly. That's why I was unable to play. For me, combat comes first, and story is secondary, and I really enjoy the way Bioware designs combat while having a decent story to tell. It works now and enjoying the game again.
Updated to patch 1.000.004 on PS5, bought the permanent buffs, saved and reloaded/loaded up the save and the permanent buffs were still there!
Looks like the issue has been fixed, but let’s keep our eyes open on them still, incase something happens to them again

Still not working on PS5, bought buffs at the crossroads vendor and they disappeared on save / load. Still broken as of 11 / 23.
The update came out on the 23rd, have you updated? It was slow to come out for me, so had to wait for a few until the update happened.
It’s good that you keep writing if it’s not working even after updating, cause then they will need to look into it more. I might just have been lucky this time
2nd post: after the patch, 1.000.003, on PS5, the issue of the permanent Buff disappearing after loading up a save has not been fixed😭😭
Yeah, I bought all of those items available. Which means I lost a lot of gold. So EA please remove those items from the game or fix the bug, otherwise its player trap. I bet they will mark this bug as minor, but when I discovered this I feel big disappointment for wasting my time, as I don't have enough money to buy all Items I would buy, so I destroy all barrels I can see to get every bit of sellable items I can get. And on top of that my effort of walking around all the markets and buying those items is wasted. My character should be more powerful because I was doing that from beginning of my playthrough, every time I saw "consumable" item I was prioritising to buy It or If I didn't have enough gold I was coming back later to do it. WTF.
It really sucks to put all the time into getting them and then they disappear😭 kind of stuck now cause I want to buy more before continuing, but don’t know when the next patch will be out
So EA, please fix the bug so we can have those upgrades you put into the game and use them!!
Honestly wouldn't have noticed if not for this post - pretty sure I've already purchased over 80% of these buffs too so hopefully it gets fixed soon
Hoping that it get’s fixed soon too. It’s been a waste of coin to get them and then have them disappear.
Worst is that the game doesn’t tell you, you have to check yourself if you still have the buffs or not. You got no clue otherwise
After further testing in Steam Patch 3, it appears they might temporarily come back if you level up and don't exit the game, but they are still lost again at some point from reloading the game.
Now I am even more confused. Either I did something before levelling up previously that fixed it and didn't realize it, or it's even more random. Just levelled up again in another play session and my valuable buffs didn't come back at all.
Sound like this bug is just very random and weird. All we can do is write between each patch if it doesn’t work and then wait until the next patch
I keep checking on my Rook, playing on PS5 and it’s working for now, to see if the bug returns or if it’s stays fixed. Gonna keep checking on my next playthrough too
It’s annoying, but it’s all we can do until it’s fixed properly
So on Steam patch 3, what I have consistently noticed so far is:
1) Buffs are always gone when launching the game from scratch
2) Reloading a save after already loading into the game doesn't fix them
3) At some point (seemingly random), buffs from valuables will "reactivate"
4) After the buffs reactivate, you can reload and they persist
If we could identify what causes #3 to happen, we'd have a decent workaround. I'd be willing to bet this behavior exists on all platforms given the tricky nature of said problem and is leading to the confusion of whether it's actually fixed or not.
Haven’t noticed any of this when I play on PS5, will check next time I start up the game though to see that all buffs are there
