I just ran into this exact same issue. Tried reloading an old save, reloading the game, etc. Since now I can't even open the door in the necropolis, this blocks me from both the quest and multiple trophies. Needs to be fixed.
Seconding the door not opening, I am pretty sure I have tried everything, even killing the last again demon in an old save to see if it opens. The last thing I could try is recruiting emmrich from a really old save and getting the quest fresh but honestly cba.
