Community ManagerRosie_the_Rogue Can you go into the game and reset all the settings to the default settings and then try again? Sometimes, this helps when launching the game; the system will recognize the hardware if it isn't a normal Xbox controller.
I dont know why but k was good for a few days and now its doing it again. Looking at my computer updates i have a hunch its related to updates as i saw microsoft had an update on the 15th and one today on the 19th, when things started going wonky again. Intried unistalling the updates and it did nothing, i reinstalled them and nothing. I have done every overlay option in steam as well in between and tried multiple controllera of different systems. Unsure how the microsoft updates could be reaking so much havoc.

The last couple of MS updates caused issues amongst a wide range of games, platforms, and programs. Since our games are PC, this is monitored. What we could do at this point is start over with installs.
Make sure all of Windows is updated first
Uninstall any Xbox programs - Game Pass, Accessories app, Xbox One Smart Glass if you have it.
Then do a fresh install of them once Windows is completely updated with a GPU update.
If it was at one point, there may be something conflicting with the config set up.
Once you're set, plug in the controller if it's an Xbox controller, go to the Accessories app, and update the controller. One PS controller, make sure you have the PlayStation Accessories app installed and update the controller.
