EA Desktop status after one year in beta

Hello,

I don't want to be rude but I would like to understand what was the utility of this beta during one complete year ?

In one year we had NO interesting features added.

After one year there are still many bugs and lot of important features for players are missing :

- No achievements

- No stats

- No synchronised time played between Origin and EA Desktop

- We wan't hide games in library and recent games

ALL alternatives launcher such as Steam, Ubisoft Connect, and now Epic Games Launcher have these features. And even better, there is a leveling and rewards system.

EA Desktop is already obsolete.

I know it's still in beta but we question ourselves. The trello teaches us absolutely nothing. The "things we're exploring" section is empty and we don't know which features EA is working on.

- Either EA communicate poorly

- Or they don't want to implement these features

- Or they secretly work on these features but they can't talk about it

I just use Origin and forget this even exists because in it's current state it might as well not.

Closing in on a year later, and....

    Nothing done. Nothing done then.

    ...

Is it safe to assume that this product will be dropped entirely at this point? It works poorly, EA does not improve it, and Origin still exists. EA's Board of Directors looks like a clown show every single day with this nonsense.

Hey @HannibalSpectre if you have feedback we are happy to share it, we just ask that it be polite and constructive, neither of which your post is.

EA App is in beta, this means that it is not a finished product and is continuously being updated and changed.

I wonder what happend during one year of beta,

in my mind, nothing really has changed, many games arn't shown (like Mass Effect Legendary Edition,

I boughted over EA Desktop, but only playable with Origin, cause there is no entry in EA Desktop, I mean what's wrong),

and over one year of beta, I still guess, most of the games still missing and only playable over Origin.

There existing no transparency how we get an Update for EA Desktop and the version of mine never updated,

version number still the same as last before.

So I mentioned it, the better way for playing is the using of Origin,

instead something greatfully happend with the new GUI-Tool.

It's a pity, because i love the new one, but one year of uselessness.

I must admit, with one year we should already have a stable EA Desktop, instead we still in BETA with barely any progress to speak off.

I could make a better job in a month alone, while EA has multiple developers getting paid and this is what we get. At least they could have added support to our library by now, but EA Desktop is still missing half my games, that alone is ridiculous.

But in contrast to OP, I disagree entirely with Steam, their developer team is as bad as here, the Steam updates are extremely poor, take years to implement, and the Steam is a mix of old and new APIs, with half the client still waiting to get updated.

Not to mention Steam just slapped a Chrome framework on the client, is the most lazy way to develop a Desktop client and is poorly optimized.

@IKobi_Blade Honestly I don't mind, since they don't wanna cancel it this is the next best thing so i can keep using Origin for a good while as there's no way im switching to this. Not like I even could as it still refuses to open at all no matter what on my gaming PC, it never worked and idk if it ever will so i hope they just let me use Origin forever.

Ok, let's try this then -

I have had an advertisement for EA Beta stuffed in my face for years now, for a product that has no clear roadmap and poorly defined goals.

There is no transparency to what is "continuously being updated and changed". That is what people here are asking for.

I do not have any interest in "early access" games or beta products. I am not a free tester for a corporation, if that's what you want to do that's fine.

What would be constructive is for them to simply remove the ad for EA Beta until they have something interesting to make me actually consider using it over Origin - like feature parity with Steam, properly working in-game chat, etc. That's another argument, so I'll stick to the original point - simply remove the annoying splash screen urging us to use a product that causes more problems than it solves for a great many people. This is simple stuff.
